Antenna works great on local stations and the range was surprising. However, it cutout the HD portion of the signals. Seems I could have local channels or HD but not both. DirecTV. Still experimenting.

The product mounted easily, but wiring the antenna was a bit of a challenge. The diagram was a little tricky to figure out, besides the fact they give you many different wiring options. The biggest part is figuring out which way to wire the unit. I had hoped to pull in more stations that it did but it does work well for the ones it does pull in.

We were quite pleased with the performance of the Terk antenna. It rivaled that of the amplified antenna on our RV. Even though we get local channels from Direct TV, it is really nice to be able to view them in HD.

I already have a TV42 (round dish) antenna and it has worked perfectly for years and years so I presume the TV44 (oval dish) would also work flawlessly. Here's the whole story... I've been a DirecTV subscriber for a long time but my area's market size (pop. 225,000) appears to be too small for DirecTV to offer local channels. With normal DirecTV service and analog broadcasts from local stations, the TV42 antenna served us very, very well. Santa let me purchase a new HDTV for Christmas so I also made arrangements to have a new 5LNB oval DirecTV HDTV dish installed. I ordered the TV44 antenna for it and was going to have the DirecTV installer put it in along with the new dish. The TV42 and TV44 antennae are both amplified and draw their power from a satellite receiver in your system. Both models require the use of diplexers to split the over-the-air signal from the satellite signal and to be sure the power passes properly to the antenna's amplifier. The DirecTV installer told me that any diplexer installed in a line carrying HDTV satellite signals will knock out the majority of the HDTV signals -- it will still work but it won't be HiDef. I didn't want to take any chances, so I had them install the new HDTV satellite equipment without an antenna of any kind. After the installer left, I ran additional (new) coax from my old TV42 antenna (still mounted on the old round dih) to my various televisions. The over-the-air part of my setup is pretty much a standalone system now; the Sat/OTA signals never share the same coax. I've got one of my old receivers in the OTA system just to supply power to the antenna's amp. Whew! That was a pretty long story. Anyway, while I cannot swear to the accuracy of the DirecTV installer's assessment of the Diplexer/HDTV situation, it would appear that DirecTV subscribers should excercise due caution here if they want HDTV service. The installer mentioned that they didn't know of the problem at first and had to go back to a number of customers to 'fix' it afterward.

This only supports triple-LNB Directv dishes. I have a dual and triple LNB dish for my Directv and I wanted to put this on my dual LNB dish. However this is too big, it will not fit on the smaller dish. It will only fit on my larger triple LNB dish (which doesn't work for me). I did just do a quick test on it though to see how it picked up the reception and it worked pretty well. Got all my locals in with no major problem and even got a station from about 60-70 miles away that is not in my local area. So if you are putting this on a triple LNB system go for it. if you are trying to put this on a dual LNB (like the description says), then you need to look for a different one.

This product works great in our rural area. Allows us to get in our local networks crystal clear, which is great since our satellite company does not carry them. Also brings in 5-6 other channels fairly well that we would not get otherwise.

This does not work with dishnetwork 1000 with the 3 LNBS, Audiovox Tech service was a joke took 30 min to get through.then get put on hold for another 30 min. First 2 guys i talked to said oh sure it will work with any system. call Dish they will help u. Call dish "we dont have a clue what u are talking about" a week later still tryin to get it work. call audiovox back. guy tells me it is incompatable with dish 1000. Amazon was great and let me return it. 5 stars for amazon 1 star for audiovox(terk) only because u cant give it 0 stars.

It wasn't too hard to install if you have easy access to your dish. I live northwest of Denver. A couple of analog channels, 4 and 12, are a little statics but still viewable. The only HD channels I can get are, 2, 12, and 31. The HD channels are very clear. But only a few of the programs are broadcast in 1080i and 720P. It still a lot better than analog. The sounds from the HD channels are CD quality. I think they are still working on HD antenna tower for the other HD channels in Denver. The tower should be finish by middle of 2008. And hopefully, I will be able to get the rest of the HD channels.

I bought this antenna to supplement my Direct TV, as not all of my local channels were offered in HD via the satellite. I receive all of the local channels with >95% signal strength. It also integrated easily with the Direct TV service and box (HR-20), with all of the channels available on the guide. I should mention that I live in a residential neighborhood without any large buildings, etc that could interfere with reception.

In the suburbs of Dallas, this unit works well. We are able to get most of the local channels to supplement our DirecTV channels. There isn't as much adjustment as we would like but we are satisfied with the overall performance. It does much better than the powered indoor antenna that we had been using. We wouldn't recommend it for more rural users because we don't think it would pull in distant stations.
