There's a lot to like about this set - the tricks are fun and there is a nice variety. I got this for my 9-year-old son. We both liked that it was made out of wood and that the components can be stored inside the presentation box. A few of the tricks are self-explanatory and my son was doing them within minutes. For the rest, we read the instructions. There is still one trick that we still don't understand how to do based on how they are explained in the booklet. I think there could be some improvement there. Video clips of someone doing the tricks so we can see how they're supposed to work would be even better. Also, I think a bit of showmanship is needed to pull of some of these tricks and not every child may have this (mine doesn't!). That's not a flaw of the set, of course! Maybe he'll develop that a bit more after a few more family gatherings.

I purchased this set for my 9-year old son and he LOVES it. It has many different tricks to learn and encourages imagination. It is a Melissa & Doug's brand toy which always seem to be quality made. I am happy I got this for him!

My daughter is crazy about magic tricks. This is good as it's a fun way to advance fine motor skills. We've bought some single tricks and one other magic kit. They're ok. We like Melissa & Doug the best. It's mostly wood which is terrific. Nice and durable and easy enough to manipulate that they can do tricks very quickly. The instruction kit explains how to do the tricks in order from easiest to hardest so that they can get going quickly and be encouraged to hang in there and master the harder tricks. I admit the adults have found it fun too.

Have ordered a few magic kits & this one is the best - since my child can actually do & enjoys all of the tricks in this kit.

This is a nice starter magic kit. It has a couple cheesey tricks, but overall it is a good set. My boys like using it and experimenting with new tricks.
