"Doesn't hold the temperature" | 2009-08-11 |

| I purchased this deep fryer based on numerous good reviews, unfortunately my fryer doesn't hold the selected temperature. The first time I used this it worked like a charm, made golden brown delicious french fries in 15 minutes, now after the 6th or 7th use it takes atleast 25+ minutes to cook the same batch of fries which come out extremely greasy. My fries lovin family even commented on the greasiness as they ate that last fry. I'm reluctant to use the fryer now because of the added grease in the food, it's bad enough eating deep fried food, but when it's really saturated with oil it just way too unhealthy! |

The Hamilton Beach 35020 Cool Touch Deep Fryer is a very nice product. It's larger than I thought it would be but it's not huge. I'm not sure why some people are having lid problems because the lid on mine opens and shuts just fine and I've had it for almost a year. And the lid DOES come off and it takes no effort to remove it either. I take it off when I'm wiping it down. I'm not sure if people are talking about the same Hamilton Beach 35020 or not. Once oil is put in the fryer, it gets plenty hot and food fries up nicely, comes out crunchy and nongreasy. But be warned you need plenty of oil to fill it to its minimum or maximum levels because the pot is large and deep. Fortunately, I can remove the pot for cleaning. I like that there is an auto shutoff feature and a breakaway cord for safety. The outside of the fryer stays cool to the touch and never gets hot even when the oil temperature is at its highest. When frying, the fryer can get a little smoky but it doesn't produce enough smoke to smell up the place. Also though the window at the top is a nice feature, it's kind of useless because in no time it gets fogged up when I'm frying. All in all, the Hamilton Beach 35020 Cool Touch Deep Fryer is a great product. Don't hesitate buying this one. |

"Two strikes and you're out" | 2009-05-12 |

I bought two of these. Unfortunately. The first one had a lid latch that was just misalligned enough that it would not catch the lid properly and would sometimes open on it's own. The thermostat quit in it after about a year. The second one, after about 3 months, would no longer come up to temp and would take forever to cook anything if at all. On the plus side they are easy to clean with the lift out pot. |

"Very Good" | 2009-04-03 |

| This fryer works good. It does take awhile for it to heat up, but once it does it works good. So far I've only fried chicken in it. I will fry fish & french fries next. |

"almost great" | 2009-04-01 |
| - Reviewed By User: A1VDCVSTUOBAGV |
| I would have given this product 5 stars, but I do have one problem with it...the lid does not stay shut when it is cool. I have to put something light on the top of the fryer to keep it shut. When I push the button to open the fryer, it does not open all the way and I have to be careful when I open it fully or I would get a nasty steam burn. It fries great and holds quite a bit. Someone on here said the top does not come off, you have to pull it straight up and pretty hard, it does come apart. Other than the problem with the lid, I love this fryer. It would be too much of a pain to send it back for that. I would have to empty the oil, wash every part (since we have used it alot) and then take it to the post office. |
