"instruction manual and battery charge?" | 2008-01-18 |

| I want to say that my iPod came to me perfectly and perhaps it did, except the instruction manual I received was in French (and I can't read French yet), so I haven't made time to find out how I can find out how to use the darn thing. I figured out some of it on my own but I'm still a little lost. At first I thought the battery wasn't holding a long charge, but now I think it may be ok. But since I have been unable to really use it since I don't know how as yet, I don't know for sure... I would rate it high if those two concerns were out of my mind. Everything else about it looks and feels like it's probably a good product and company ??? |

"spinning hard drive in pocket....not a great idea" | 2007-11-20 |

| Great when it works. The hard drives are not great though and once it starts to freeze sell it quick or plan in getting another. Repairing it will cost as much as buying a new one. If you have a service plan turn it in near the end of your plan for sure. I have owned three models and cared for them well. Only one lasted more than a year before choking and dying. It was always the hard drive! I am ready for flash memory in these things the spinning hard drive models are crap -- fundamentally a bad idea. Otherwise I agree that ipods rock. Great for music but BEST OPTION for porting large files of data between work and home. |

"Keep this in a glass case, I suppose" | 2007-11-10 |

Well, this was a very nice little MP3 plater until the other day when it fell about a foot onto a somewhat hard surface, and COMPLETELY BROKE. It didn't fall apart or anything, but it no longer plays any music - it just makes a grinding/clicking noise and freezes when you want it to play a song. And of course, because this is an Apple product, it's completely sealed in its slick little casing, so I can't take it apart to see if I can fix it. If I didn't already have the also overpriced iPod docking station, I wouldn't hesitate to replace it with a completely different brand of MP3 player.

"Best Buy" | 2007-04-01 |

| I bought a 20gb IPod about a month ago, I learned the controls quickly(wasn't that hard at all) and started loading songs the very same day. I really enjoy the product. An unexpected plus is if the ear buds cord comes out, the IPod will go on pause so you can plug it back in and be right where it left off. I'm up to about 600 songs and thats hardly half of the storage capacity of the 20gb. The Ipod fits right into my back pocket, still searching for a good Ipod holder though. |

| I am 50, and this is my first iPod. I found it very easy to use and the interfacing with my PC worked fine. I have loaded 400 songs, and have only used 1.3 GB, so have nearly 19 GB still unused. I don't find the earpieces very comfortable or secure, but apart from that its been excellent. I have been told about problems with iPod reliability, but so far (1 month) no problems. A god buy. |

"Great, when it works..." | 2007-01-14 |

I managed to get mine working again today after trying some rather unorthodox solutions I found while googling "dead ipod" (These are things I'd only suggest trying if your iPod is headed for the garbage and you have nothing else to lose.) It's been dead for about a year now, after only 8 months or so of light use. I was rather annoyed when it died, but not surprised since this is the second Apple product I've gotten that has been a total lemon (my powerbook is nothing more than a really expensive paperweight because Apple charges an arm and a leg to fix even the simplest of things.) When it works, the iPod has great sound and of course, it's pretty, but it's not meant to take any kind of abuse. Mine was rarely taken out of the house, and it's covered in scratches. One short drop can break them, which I think is ridiculous considering this is supposed to be a portable device. If we danced around with them like they do in the iPod commercials, we'd be replacing ours monthly.
My next MP3 player will not be an Apple anything. |
