| Recently had a severe URI and chest congestion (age 80). At 10 p.m., I called my grandson, who has three youngsters, and asked if he had a humidifier I could borrow, as I was all stuffed up and couldn't breathe very well through my nose, and was coughing. He brought over a Hunter humidifier, which he has used frequently for 8-10 years for his kiddies illnesses, and set it up. Shortly, withing minutes, my symptoms improved. I asked him to order me one. When it came (from Amazon) he brought it over, set it up, and took his home with him. Ours has run 24 hrs a day ever since, excepting a short time to clean the unit with vinegar solution. We are well now, but my wife got the same type URI a few days later. Both my wife and I breathe better running it all the time, as we heat with propane stoves that dry out the air. I ordered another Hunter from Amazon, and I guess this is the one they want me to review. The Blakely's call it "great." One is in the living room where the stove is, and the other in the bedroom. |

Ordered a Hunter humidifier much like this one before. Wanted another one. This model works well. Yes, it is a bit noisy, but it does it's job well. It puts water into the air!! Nice filter design, does not need replaced.
Nice tank, easy to fill by taking it (the tank) to the sink or bathtub. Overall, nice design. |

I have had other humidifiers in the past and spent a fortune on filters. If the units ever went dry, the filters had to be replaced because they became hard and useless. This model has an automatic shut off in case the water runs out.
The filters are able to be cleaned in vinegar and water,so, no more buying filters. The tank size is great.
I wish that that the humidity control was marked by the % of humidity. It is difficult to know where to set the control knob. |

these hunter humidifiers are ok, but the comments on the loudness are true.
on low, it's pretty acceptable---kind of supplies a "white noise" effect
to mask other sounds in the room. but ON HIGH-----
IT SOUNDS LIKE A LEAF BLOWER!!!
it does eliminate the whole problem of white dust, though, so that's good.
cool air mist does really help sinus problems and allergies, too. it can make a HUGE difference when you're running the heat all winter. |

| I have three of these in use during the winter. My serious sinus conditions require that there is sufficient humidity in the air. The Hunter's work just great...very efficient, quiet and easy to maintain. One added bonus is the lack and any white coatings on furniture items. We have tried many other products that leave a "chalky" white coating in the room on everything! The Hunters leave "nothing"...I would recommend this product. |

| This product has mulitple uses. This product is for you if you a)want a fancy fan with a night light, b) need to water your floor every so often, c) are deaf and don't mind the loud sound. If you're actually looking for a humidifier then look somewhere else. We've had this humidifier for three weeks and not once has it ever reached the desired humidity. You'll have better luck finding bigfoot than ever seeing the green humidity level indicator light up. |

| bought this item because of the "permanent" wick. it works fine although it doesn't evaporate nearly as much as the throw-away paper wicks. (it will smell after a while but responds to soaking with mild bleach). the problem I have with this machine is the fragile fan. after less than a full winter season of use, the fan died on me, and I had to get it replaced by hunter. after putting it away for the summer, the fan again died after less than two months of use. now, I use this unit almost continuously but I would have expected hunter to make better fans. stay away from this model if you use your humidifier for more than a few hours a day. |

| I've gone though a lot of humidifiers, both hot and cold. Most of them either stop working after a year or two, or get so corroded or mildewed that you have to get rid of them. The Hunter humidifier doesn't corrode or get mildew, you can wash the pieces, especially the Permawick filter in the dishwasher, it lasts over 48 hours of constant running on high (over 72 hours on low), and has a nice little blue light that lights through the water, which gives a nice softening touch. I've now gotten one for each bedroom in my house, and am extremely happy with this product. |

We have an older model, without the night light. We like it very much, but it does have its drawbacks. The HIGH level is very loud. That being said, the LOW level is not too loud and does what it is supposed to do. Mine does not shut off automatically, but we live in a dry climate.
I think the fact that I don't have to deal with a filter is the best part. It is a decent pick up though. |
