| I just purchased 2 pairs of these to be powered by a Marantz 2285, replacing junk Sears speakers I've had since the mid 80's. I was initially concerned that a 2 way speaker with no large subwoofer would compromise the highs and lows. Let me tell you, these sound fantastic. These Polks can take all my Marantz can give and then some. The only drawback (if you want to call it that)is the speakers need about 5 minutes to "warm up". Bass is true and rich, mids and highs cut through very well, if you want a quality, versatile set of speakers for 250-300 dollars , you need to look into these Polk 50's. |

| Great speakers for the price. Able to handle everything I have thrown at them. Those that say they have "no bass" I say WTF????? I have had to adjust my bass level down on my receiver. |

| After purchasing a 46" Samsung flat panel, it quickly became apparent that High Def video only delivers part of the home theatre experience. Several home theatre audio options were explored (HTIB, Bose 321, High End and Low End), but after scratching the surface, they were either inadequate or out of reach price wise. My neighbor was going through a similar process and purchased a high end receiver and also picked up two tower speakers for $500 a piece. I sampled the sound on his system and was not impressed, particularly for the $1,500 price tag on 3 pieces. I picked up an Onkyo705 receiver, two monitor 50 L&R speakers, CSi3 center speaker, velodyne sub and two cheap surrounds (until I can afford the polk dipoles). That was 10 months ago, and I have not been disappointed. I get compliments all the time on my system, and I got 5 pieces of equipment for less than my neighbor paid for 3. Whether it is movie sound tracks or music, these speakers rock. The sound is clear and full, while other speakers I've sampled sound tinny or flat. You can easily pick out individual instruments. And while a sub noticeably delivers deep base, these speakers don't slack on their own. I often watch TV or listen to music without the sub on. The build is solid, unlike some of the other offerings...my kids fell into one and knocked it into the wall. While the wall had two large chunks out of it, there was no damage to the speaker. If you're looking for great sound at a great price, then get these. |

| Did some research, checked Consumer Reports, sent for the Polks. I'm more than satisfied. The sound is bright, strong, and absolutely clear. The bass is fine, too, with accurate reproduction of concussion and strings. I bought these with a center speaker, but have no sub-woofer needs, since I listen to jazz and classical and am not looking to thump myself out of the room. I give them a 4 instead of a 5 only because I figure there must be something better out there that costs a lot more. |

| The Polk Monitor 50 tower speakers are just terrific for the money. The highs are clean and well defined and the bass is substantial without being overbearing. Polk definitely has another winner on it's hands with these. Some reviewers have complained about weak bass, but I don't see that as being true. Unless of course you're a head banger and you like your bass seriously and artificially augmented. Then, just add a sub-woofer. These are very nice sounding speakers for a really terrific price. Matched up with the Polk CS1 center channel speaker and you have the perfect surround speakers (at least for the front). Add the Monitor 30's or 40's for the rears! Highly recommended. |

| Great looking and great sounding package. Very prompt delivery. These speakers are the fronts for a 7.1 system, with all Polk drivers. They are driven with 110 W per chl. Sony ES with all digital input sources. You cannot beat the sound for the price. Great job Polk and Amazon. |

| I'm no audiophile, but I did a lot of research, and for the price Amazon is offering these speakers, they are hard to beat. The material quality is good (again, especially considering the price point). Shipping was free and I had the speakers in four days. Set-up was easy (they're speakers, after all) and they sound quite good. In the various reviews I have read, some complain that these speakers need a sub woofer, as they don't have enough bass. For normal listening, they strike me as just fine. The Monitor 60 and 70 add more drivers and thus more bass, and also more dollars to the price. |

| I got this speaker for my son & he loves it. He has been rocking the house with it. THe only confusion was that there was only one speaker so we purchased another. The hight of the unit was difficult to see from the product info. |

| I recently decided to enter into the world of the audiophile by piecing together a home theater system. After looking at several different manufacturers for my front channels I decided on polk. The clincher was a circuit city audition with superman returns. They had an onkyo ht set up with monitor 30s and 50s. It sounded like I was right in the movie theater. The highs were extremely clear and the sound was natural and smooth. I have had my monitor 50s for about a month now and they seem to be getting better the more I use them. I guess that stuff about speaker break in is true. The only mistake I made was I didn't get a polk center channel speaker so the front and center aren't timbre matched. I will probably be going with the cs2 in the near future. And make sure you get a good subwoofer with these if you want your home theater to sound perfect. They are very good with mid and high ranges but the bass is not as effective. |

| These are well built, and look good. Overall, there is little bass, but I purchased a separate subwoofer anyways. What I want from these speakers are very clear and loud Highs and Mids. They are very clear. But I'm not sure if they are getting maximum power (older Pioneer amp), as I would have prefered these speakers to be louder. |
