"Do You Have a Lil Handy Manny In Your House? This Toy is For You!" | 2008-10-06 |

| I bought this toy for my 3 yr old son and he loves it. He especially loves it when he is watching Handy Manny. If my husband is fixing something in the house then my son runs to get "his tools" and helps him out. I think this is a great educational toy for any toddler boy. Introduces a hammer, screw and wrench. Well made quality product. |

| My son likes this tool box. I was a bit disappointed that there are only two "nails". I bought this box specifically so that he would have something other than my walls to pound with his hammer. Like many of the other reviews state, the screwdriver is a bit sharp. But, I just didn't give to my son, because he is only two. He does like the toolbox itself tho. He carries it all around the house. |

| My toddler is only close to 19 mos. He's having fun with these tools by lining them up in one line or by throwing them out of his gate, but he's not yet learning them for their proper use. Also, he still eats them so I guess they're really best for toddlers over 3 years or so. |

I bought this toy for my ten month old knowing he wouldn't be able to use it. I wanted him to have something to chew on while I quietly used my own tools fixing this and that. I checked that there wasn't any dangerous tiny bits to swallow and gave it to him. He chew a bit, spent a lot of time watching me and my husband showing him how it works...And now our one year old is almost able to use a screw driver and definitely knows how to use a hammer. I wasn't expecting that much from this toy, not so soon, and I'm really pleased! To me a great toy is one that will be enjoyed for years. This one is a good example.
This said, my son is never left alone when playing, especially with that kind of toys. I believe that supervision is the best security. |

| Not a whole lot to say except that what you see is what you get. It's well put together, which I've found is always the case with this brand. My daughter is on the young side of the age range for this product, so I've been controlling her access to the toy screwdriver -- a little pointy -- but that's not a flaw in the product by any means. |

Yes there are hard wooden parts and they could be dangerous if you let your child run with the screw driver, or any toy I'd guess for that matter... However, I specifically look for Melissa and Doug toys now. I have two toddlers, one year apart. They love each of this particular brand of toys. They are durable, educational and have assisted in fine and gross motor development of my youngest, who is a little behind. The therapists always mention that they want the toys when I get rid of them. However, I haven't been able to get rid of any yet. They play with them all the time. I have the "black & decker" plastic tool kit too, which has small nuts and bolts that I removed immediately as the nuts on that kit are definately a choaking hazard. I bought both last holiday. Both of my toddlers, for some reason, always reach for this one first over the other... I wouldn't have guessed that. I don't know why that is... The other kit has so many real looking parts.
These parts are more durable. The nails when hammered are difficult to remove, but I showed my child how to use the rear of the hammer to jolt or pry the nail out, as one would use a regular hammer... It hasn't posed a problem since.
I have so many great things to say about Melissa & Doug toys. I specifically look for them first and I have a difficult time buying anything else, of like or kind, if given the opportunity. Even if the savings is substantial. |
