I picked up Lost Cities last week. I keep looking for something to play with my girlfriend, who is not a gamer, so I took a chance based on a recommendation. Lost Cities is great, it has enough strategy to keep me interested while not being too bogged down in rules for a non-gamer. Glad I picked it up.

I was very excited to get this game for my boyfriend and I to play. We quickly found out while the basic rules were easy to understand the adding the points up for your score was much more complicated. Not bad, just takes way more time than one needs to for understanding a game imo. Once we figured it out we began to play. As the second hand approached I'm hoping to myself that it gets better than this. This has nothing to do with lost cities and adventure except that the cards depict the locations. It finishes way too quickly and could easily be a 1 player card game with a regular deck of cards. There is very little "interaction". Im very disappointed in this game. Frankly very confused that people actually a) think this game is full of strategy and b) is entertaining. This is my first experience with Rio Grande games so if anyone has had better luck with any other games they offer please let me know. You'll have way more excitement and adventure while looking at the front of the box. haha. How did this get a game of the year award? The board isn't even needed. How does this keep people busy? I rather play go fish! so the great 2 player game search is back on! :( oh well...

P.S. I gave it two stars for educational bc you will take more time working on your mathematics while figuring out the score for each hand.

Younger children do not really grasp the concept of the game, but our teenagers enjoyed it. I think it gave us all a better understanding of the risk of investment--the more you invest the more you stand to lose. I liked that it was short and not very complicated.

We bought this game for my husband and i because we were going camping just the 2 of us and wanted a fun 2 player game. Well we played this game almost the whole time. We had other games but this one was the funnest. Then my kids came with us and they learned how to play it and they played the game with each other and with me for the rest of the week (when we werent swimming) They loved the game as well. So if you like to play games in your family and need a fun 2 player game I would recommend this game.

This card game has the perfect combination of 1/3 luck 2/3 strategy. It takes about 20 minutes to play one round which is perfect. This is currently our go-to game over Saturday morning coffee. The board is useless. All you need to play the game is the card deck and the rules. The rules are simple enough that you won't need those after the first time either. It does take a bit of space to lay out the cards. Easy enough on a typical cafe table, but it would be tricky to play on a train or a plane.
