We are having a great time with Carcassonne Hunters & Gatherers. Having played the original several times with out-of-state family, we decided it would be nice to own our own, not-quite-the-same version. And we think we like it a little better than the original (which is also a great game). For starters, it's a lovely board. It can be played by two people and works as well as with a tableful. One can pursue various strategies and there are nearly always multiple options to choose from for each turn. The adults love it and so does our almost 12 year old. A much better way to spend the evening with your spouse than parked in front of the television--you interact more and your brain is active and engaged.

I bought this game because I love board games and I though I'd try something new. I particularly like Settlers of Catan, Diplomacy and Risk. I've only played Hunters & Gatherers a few times and it seems way too simple. Is this game aimed at younger kids? Do I need to play it more to pick up on strategies that I'm missing? Maybe this game is better for people who don't enjoy more complicated games.

I play in a Board Game Group in the Boston area, and I bring this game every week. It is my favorite game, but I think I am the only one with this favorite. This game is very easy to learn and play, so it is not for advanced gamers. The pieces are drawn nicely and the game has a solid design. It does not require A LOT of thinking, which can be either good or bad. The game is a good way to spend half an hour with friends.

There are a few more subtle rules that make this game even better and more fun than the original. It is easier to play if you are already familiar with Carcassone, but don't let the instructions overwelm you -- it's really not difficult. I highly recommend this game.

We bought this game already knowing we like Carcassonne, and we weren't disappointed. This game is fun, and has the right balance of strategy (you have to play smart) and luck (sometimes you just don't get what you need) to win. And I like that you don't know until the final scoring who wins. Great, great game.

In relation to the other Carcassonne games, the original is nice as it can be changed around using one or more expansions to keep it interesting. The City is my least favorite, and I can't even really put my finger on why. I think it just has too much going on.
