"Good coffee, kind of a hassle and expensive" | 2008-04-21 |

Makes good coffee, but I think I could make something for much less that works just as well. The filter included clogs very easily. It takes 1 pound of coffee to make 1 decanter and I still mix it about 50/50. The coffee is much smoother and lower in acidity, but I think some people will miss the bitterness and acid that is usually assocaited with coffee.

| Takes some doing to make this stuff and the filter always gets clogged and its a bear to clean when its half full of coffee grouds and water. My wife and I didn't think it did justice to what we were looking for. Went to a Espresso maker and we add hot water and it seems to do about as well acidity wise but tastes lots better and its easier to make and less wasteful. |

| Definitely makes a good cup of coffee, however, the process is labor intensive and certainly not for those who have any issues with delayed gratification. The clean-up is a bit of a hassle, and it is far from economical. More of a novelty than a practical buy. Thankfully, it is not an expensive purchase. |

"Taste is average - not worth the money" | 2008-02-22 |

Bought the thing based on reviews here and in major news outlets
Bought the freshest bag of Starbucks beans I could find (expiration date on back) and followed the instructions. No problems in making it, but it tastes only so-so. A just made cup at Starbucks is better and so is french press.
I will try another kind of coffee, but so far I am pretty dissapointed!

"Complicated process at first, but don't let it scare you away..." | 2008-02-17 |

| The first couple times I made the coffee, I was worried about screwing it up because the instructions are not 100% clear, and they are kind of tedious. However, the coffee extract is perfect for iced coffee. I add vanilla soy milk, and it's heavenly. The problem with attempting to make hot coffee out of it is that you won't be able to get it hot enough just by adding boiling water (You might be able to microwave it though, as I don't have one). |

"Works as promised but is that a good thing?" | 2008-02-08 |

The toddy works as stated and yes it does brew a mild less acidic coffee. However it was too mild for my taste, the coffee had flavor, but I found I missed the acidity. I used premium dark roast beans(french roast - dark roast) and the coffee just did not have the bite I like in a brew.
For people who have trouble with the acidity this product may be just what the doctor ordered but I am going back to my french press.

"Love Toddy Coffee" | 2008-01-11 |

| I have been using the Toddy Maker for over a year now. I tried some from my MIL whose friend had been making it at home and passing out the concentrate to their group and was instantly hooked. I make a batch every other week or so and keep it in the fridge at work. Put some sugar in your empty cup, add your Toddy concentrate and fill w/hot water from the hot water dispenser and voila, coffee. I have been using 6 cups of grounds to about 10 cups of water and soaking for 24 hours instead of 12 to get maximum flavor/caffeine out of the grounds. I have heard that some reuse the grounds to make a weaker concentrate but I would rather just get everything I can out of my initial brew. Super strong & super convenient. At home we keep in in the fridge and use a hot water heater/dispenser to make the hot water. I like strong coffee so I use a 1 to 4 ratio. |

| I was buying a lot of iced coffee at work every day, so I thought it would save me money in the long run to just make it in bulk at home. So far, I've made 2 batches and I am not disappointed at all. The process is a little involved and takes a bit of time, but I expected that and it's very worth it in the end. The coffee tastes just as good as what I bought at the coffee shop at work, but I can mix it stronger/weaker, depending on my mood. 1 full batch of concentrate lasts me about 2 weeks, and I drink about a cup a day. Wonderful if you really really love coffee, but probably not for the casual coffee drinker. |

| This item is not a hi tech toy. It's a plain ol' does what it's supposed to and that's it. I was very happy to see how small it is. It fits very nicely on the counter under the cabinet. And clean up is much easier than I imagined. Dump the grounds in a plastic bag and rinse. I'm very happy with product and it will pay for itself by replacing a $2.35 a day habit. |
