I was skeptical at first when I heard about this "cold brew" system. While it sounded like an interesting idea, I honestly thought there was no way a good cup of coffee could be made by brewing it without very hot water. Not to mention this method makes a concentrate that you then need to add water to. It was only thanks to the numerous good reviews this system had here on Amazon.com that convinced me to make the purchase and add this system to my coffee brewer repertoire.
Personally, I own a Krups Coffeemaker with Thermal Carafe, a DeLonghi Espresso Maker, an AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker, and a Bosch Tassimo Single-Serve Coffee Brewer. Each have their own strengths and weaknesses.
Convenience is an important factor for me which is why I bought the Tassimo machine; while it creates pretty good coffee, it's not the best I've had. The Toddy on the other hand, yes you have to make it 12 hours in advance, but that yields 6 cups of coffee concentrate (Toddy recommends using 1 part concentrate to 3 parts water, milk or cream), and you can store it in the refrigerator for up to 14 days and have it still taste as fresh as it did the first day. From here, you can make a single-cup at a time or more since the concentrate is already made. You can even easily choose how strong you want it by changing the ratio of concentrate to water, milk or cream that you use. Toddy recommends you brew a pound of fresh ground coffee at a time.
It's also convenient because I can pour the concentrate into a Thermos that I take to work. At work I simply pour a small amount of concentrate and the rest with boiling water from the water machine to make a fresh cup of delicious, smooth coffee. I've never had coffee that was as smooth as what I make with Toddy. It is as they advertise much less acidic than other brewing methods.

The Toddy brewing system is easy and the result is smooth coffee that you can't get anywhere else. After initially trying an iced toddy at a coffee shop I knew I could never go back to regularly brewed iced coffee which is brewed hot then simply put in the fridge. The result is you still get all the acids which you avoid when cold brewing it. And the coffee concentrate you get is so easy to mix in with your favorite kind of drinks! I'd definitely recommend this system for anyone who's a coffee lover.

Works like a charm. I like iced coffee, and the ease of use is great. The only issue is that you need a new filter for each brew, and only 2 are included in kit.

The coffee toddy makes the best coffee ever. I've never tasted better. My only complaint is I wish the set came with more extra filters.

Use coarsely ground beans for good flavor and fewer filter-clogging issues. If you are using pre-ground beans from the store, they are generally ground very fine. If you can grind your own, use a setting that is leaves the beans fairly "chunky." This is how New Orleans coffee barista's do it, and it works great! :)
