"OK sound, poor quality of materials" | 2008-01-02 |

| This is one of those products you really don't know what your getting. I found this out after a failure of the Companion 3's. A lightning strike took out the Companion 3's. So I decided to take them apart. Boy, what a eye opener! Being a amateur audiophile since I could read the title on a record album. I was sorely disappointed in the Bass driver which was made of a paper composite and a foam surround. Not what I expected from $250 speakers! The desktop speakers were the same cheap quality. Actually I was surprised considering the Bose do sound pretty good. But for a company who keeps specifications secret and glue's enclosures so you cannot see speaker's. I can only wonder what Bose is trying to do? I have to say from what I have seen of their quality. I don't think I will be buying anything with Bose on it. Unless I can verify I am actually getting something for my money! |

"Long term performance degrades.." | 2007-10-28 |

| I have been using this system for more than an year. I bought the system thinking that being a premium product should give me good performance over a period of time but I think that I was mistaken. To start with the system gave a very good sound output with good highs, deep lows and decent mid range. But over the period of time maybe due to the curing of the bass module it delivers an excessive bass taking over lot of mid range and highs.. I now have to keep the bass at the minimum level and adjust my equalizer settings to get the right mix.. I think there should have been something to adjust for the excess bass internally instead of keeping on readjusting the equalizer settings.. Overall decent, overpriced product but I doubt its longevity in terms of quality of output... |

Perhaps it was the Bose brand name or the $250 price tag that had my expectations soaring when I bought the Companion 3. I brought it home and couldn't wait to get it hooked up to my computer. 5 minutes later, I had it all set up and found myself drooling at the looks of those tiny satellites on my desktop; this is a thing of beauty - no doubt about that. The puck-like volume control was a pleasure to work, and I loved the touch-sensitive mute button. All fine but what about the feature that really matters - the sound? I have to say I wasn't exactly blown away by it. The lows and highs sounded great - but there wasn't any mids. Rich male voices sounded lifeless and coming from a tiny speaker (which they were). (One of my friends later commented that all male voices sound like Akon). I was convinced that it was just a software equalizer setting that I have gotten wrong. But 30 minutes of tweaking later, I was in a state of sad realization - this product has disappointed me. I'm taking it back - I'm not sure what else to get, I'm still researching.
Pros: A thing of beauty - tiny and very usable. Cons: Sound - mids are missing! Bottom-line: Disappointment from Bose. |

these bose speakers are wonderful, it has great sound, can get plenty loud, and fis easily on and under desks. Also know that there could be many alternitives that are just as good for 100$ less. (And incase your wondering, the 2 small speakers arn't wireless)

| Wanted smallest PC speakers possible that put out the best sound. Current model of this system has speakers on stands, which we didn't want. Excellent sound, and the desktop volume/mute controller is perfect for someone who is constantly taking phone calls. Highly recommend. |

| I have to say, that This is the best product out there, for such a reasonable price you get the most clear sound you cannot ever get form any other supplier. Bose definitely is the best quality brand for all systems sound. The speackers are tiny and can be placed anywhere. The volume control system is just great, with one touch you get on-off, and volume using the wheel around it, easy and convenient. The bass is very powerfull. You wont be dissapointed. This is a must have product at home or office. I love it. |

| I culdn't have made a better buy for this amount of money. As of today I'm stll very satisfied with the great preformance that three speakers can provide. I can't belive that I waited so long to deside on buying this speaker system, which is quite pricy. But then again, Bose is the best way to go for those of us that can afford it. Overall the Companion 3 is a great buy. ---Sweet!!!!!!!!!--- |

The sound is strong & clear. The bass are absolutely fantastic, and if you want to improve them just place the subwoofer 5" far in front of wall, it's when you say Wow!. Satellites are very small, nicely designed and you won't ever understand how something so SMALL sounds that BIG. Volume level was lower than I expected, but the guilty guy was my Toshiba laptop's sound card, so I had to upgrade it with a cool pcmcia Creative Audigy 2 ZS. Now, that's sound !
I use these sound system primary to enjoy karaoke music at my parties with family and friends (lot of people!), this is why it was an important point a higher sound level. So I'm really happy with this investment. It's expensive in front of its competitors, right, but as always it is: if you want things to work perfect you have to pay for it! |

| I love the system but it failed six months after my warranty expired. But for $50 Bose fixed the unit and the turnaround was superfast -- I shipped it to them on Monday and received my working unit back on Friday. Fabulous. |
