| I highly recommend this game. It is very challenging, even on the simple games like connect 4. I couldn't stop playing. I had to buy it for my little sister as well. After playing it, she wanted it also and she's 14. |

| This game has a good variety of puzzles and grown-up games. However, it is misleading for the maker of the game to say "works on Nintendo DS." While this is true - it does work - it only works on the top screen, making it exceedingly difficult to see the game. If you have a Nintendo DS and not a Game Boy Advanced, wait for the DS version, so that you have a game that plays on both screens, and is stylus-active. I'm sorry I didn't wait. |

"Good value for the money, but kind of hard..." | 2006-05-29 |

I picked this up on recommendations from others that this title was worth the bang for the buck. Well, even on easy level I found myself blindly frustrated by its ability to pull off tactics in chess or connect four that left me wondering if I was even playing the game correctly.
For the amount of money you pay though, its hard to beat the fact that you get multiple games in one package (check out other titles for the GBA that have the same kinds of games, at higher prices, or only offer one of the games included in this cart, for the same price). The graphics and sound are good as well, although others here have mentioned the glitches that sometimes occur.
If you really like a challenge and like the kind of parlor games offered by Ultimate Brain Games, I'd recommend that you try it out. |

Although graphics are limited on a GBA the game does reasonably well. "Sink Ships" has some difficulty in creating graphics so that a sunk ship can be distinguished. Otherwise it's "OK".
My biggest gripe is with the chess game. I'm not the best or the worst chess player but even if I "dumb-down" the chess game it ALWAYS wins. It also can castle, but provides no instructions or any intuitive way for the player to castle. It would be better if it would allow the player to win occaisionally. This makes the chess game very frustrating and not fun after a few dozen games of chess.
Same thing goes for checkers, it makes multiple jumps but doesn't provide a way for the player to do the same.
I've played the Mah Jong game a few times, and it always ends up the same... with tiles left and none match.
The reversi game is a bit better and is winable. I haven't tried the dominos game yet and the others only once so far.
Overall it's a bargain considering the quantity of different games it provides but it lacks the "fun" factor by making games impossible to win. |

"Best GBA game ever!" | 2005-12-15 |

Sure, making faces is fun, and unlike some reviewers I actually dig the music... but the important thing about this title is THE GAMES, all 8 of them. Chess, Checkers, Backgammon, Dominoes, Connect Four, Battleship, Othello, and Mah Jongg. Even if you only like one or two, this game is worth it because it is so easy to pick up (most people already know how to play) and so easy to put down (this is very important sometimes!) because of the quick save feature. This is the best game to carry with you anywhere. Anytime you have down time to wait for something or someone, whether it's just a minute or two or several hours, this game is perfect. You don't need the sound, so you don't have to bother anyone, either.
One of the best features is using a single GBA to pass back and forth between players. My girlfriend and I love to play chess, checkers, backgammon, and connect four against each other. This game is so wonderful because instead of having to set up a board and pieces and sit at a table, we get to snuggle up on the couch under a blanket and play together. Also, if you have two GBAs, then all the games work with a single game cartridge.
My favorite to play on my own is Mah Jongg. Some of the reviewers complain that the tiles are hard to see. Idiots, you can change the tile sets to some that are totally easy to see. For mah jongg fans, the coolest thing is the different tile layouts that are available. Instead of just playing the traditional layout, there are dozens of layouts, ranging from easy to hard. The game suggests moves, and also has a "go back" feature in case you change your mind about removing a pair of stones. One slight problem with the move suggestion is that if you have 3 of a particular tile available, it doesn't match the 3rd one. This is a very small nuisance and if you are serious enough about mah jongg to even notice, then you are probably good enough that you shouldn't have to rely much on the move suggestions anyway.
That's what I like the best about this. With 8 different games, you're sure to find something you like the best also. Really, this is a game that every GBA owner should have. Even if board games aren't your thing, there will be a time when you and a friend are bored... traveling, waiting, or whatever... if you have this game and just one GBA then you will BOTH be happy. |

"Great game, title really says it all. Hardest gameboy game(s) probably ever." | 2005-11-19 |

| I've played a lot of computer reversi and this seems to be the best computer opponent possible. It may actually play optimally which means it is nearly impossible to beat at "average" setting and above. I have to play on "easy" and I still lose more than half of the time. My only complaint is that it takes the computer a while to move, which probably has to do with the depth of the "thinking" it does to figure out the best move to dong you with. The games are all easy to figure out if you've ever played them before so you won't find yourself looking at the manual at all. It has memory so you can save your games, character and statistics. I'm pretty sure you can also turn the music off (it's annoying). The sound effects are nice to have but about half of them are ok and the other half are annoying (the game lets loose an Anime style scream every time you lose a game). In a nutshell, the games are smart and hard to beat even on the easy settings (at least for a novice player) so this should give anyone plenty of practice at some great games. |
