3 Star Rating  "HOW ABOUT A STANDARD AC ADAPTER ?? WHAT ABOUT ALL TV CHANNELS"2008-07-12
- Reviewed By harry9226
with HDTV broadcast coming soon this will not receive the TV band. Not that I use it much, it only has VHF, no UHF. I live in hell AKA Atlanta, GA, most stations are UFH. Now in NY it would work better, till 02/2009.

Sony does not include an AC adapter, wants to suck a few extra bucks out of you. The shipping cost for the extra unit is what disappoints me as well as finding it.

The unit does work well with MP3's. My AC unit died so I am using this every day, for about a year, but changing batteries is a pain.

For workouts get an Ipod, as this unit is to big to be considered portable as are all Cd units today.

All pictures used for display do not show the handle on the other side. It is much larger than pictured. It has a carrying handle with all the controls which makes it twice as large.

All stores should show both sides so the customer KNOWS what they are buying.

I give it a 3 because I now am using it. When I first got it I never used it.

Where is my CD player. I have tried to contact seller but no response. I have submitted claim to Amazon.

I liked this cd but I had to buy another one because it was too hard to open. YOu have to make sure it is directly line up with the arrow or it will not play the radio or the cd. I just went ahead and bought myself a less complicated sony. Otherwise it is okay. Oh yes, it didn't have a bass boost. So you know for me it had to go.

The Sony ATRAC is great, easy to walk/run when I go outside to exercise. I prefer to listen to books and many have copy protection so I can not download. I have no problems with skipping and it's light weight and the hand holds give me confindence that I am not going to drop my CD player.

3 Star Rating  "Allright for a CD player"2007-02-27

I have also found this player to be cumbersome and hard to operate. I happen to be a bit taller than the average man, and also have problems with the short cord on the headphones pulling the earpieces out of my ears. Also, the screen doesn't light up, so night time use is out. Overall, I liked the product, but I'm a little embarrassed to carry it around because everyone else has iPods. It's bulky, but I've never had problems using it as a cd player and it picks up more stations than my car.

3 Star Rating  "Works well, but not very durable"2006-10-20
- Reviewed By booksbynicoletta
All the electronic functions on this are fine, just what you'd expect from Sony. Where it fails is the hardware. Sooner or later the handle starts coming apart. Planned obsolesence or poor design, who can tell? If you never put it in luggage or your pocket, and and just hold it in your hand, it will last much longer.

Also, it is designed to keep out water--which is great. But if you have arthritis or just week hands, it can be harder to open than many jars, especially as it gets older. The display is pretty dim too, so it would be almost impossible for someone with impared vision to use, what with all the menus involved in tuning the radio and setting stations.

With all that said, it's a pretty good machine. It just could be more durable and user-friendly.

5 Star Rating  "The best I have ever had"2006-05-09

I have not encountered any of the problems other reviewers have had. To prevent the screen becoming scratched, put a piece of clear Scotch tape over it. True, the strap is bulky, but you don't have to hold it; I loop it through my pants belt with the controls facing upwards, then I can control everything with one finger without even looking at the unit. I wear it all day long and love it. I have noticed that it is very complicated to enter programs into the memory, but I just keep it at the stations on MA, FM & TV that I like the most. The station memories remain intact while you change batteries, and mine have always worked perfectly, irrespective of which disc I am playing. Perhaps I just get the good ones, but I am on my 5th one, having used and given away as gifts the others, which never failed to work perfectly, after being constantly bumped, dropped and splashed on. I cannot find anything else made by anyone else that comes near this quality. Keep your receipt; If you get a defective one, return it and try another. This is America! Way to go, Sony!

3 Star Rating  "small hands beware"2006-04-27

If you are a person who has small hands be advised that this product will be hard to lock the cd cover. Additionally the hand strap which is not visible in the picture will not really adjust to small hands.

2 Star Rating  "Longevity is more than mediocre"2005-09-30

$90.00 and the thing lasted for less than a year?!?!? It still plays CDs, barely: I can't move forward or back from one song to another, only play the disc straight through; the Play button doesn't work--to restart it I have to pull the head set and/or the plug-in (when I am using AC instead of battery power) out and then plug it back in, or sometimes open the case and then re-close it; and the volume button no longer works either, it's stuck at one volume permanently...

Up until these problems started arising, about 7 months after I bought it, I thought this was one of the best CD players I'd ever had... I don't use it for mp3s, so I can't comment on that.

But I like the wrap around over-the-ear phones, and I LOVE the hand strap!! That was one of the best features! Makes it so much easier to carry in your hand. I'm looking for one now that has a handstrap but is NOT this brand/model

There are an excessive amount of directions to get it to do everything it can do, but I just set it up for what I wanted and never changed it again.

Still the lack of longevity alone makes me say "don't buy it"
The one I had prior cost me $50 and lasted almost 3 years, even though I dropped it 3 or 4 times.

5 Star Rating  "Great Discman, but be aware!!!"2005-04-12
- Reviewed By User: A3UXH4PM4J7O15
If you are looking for a very nice and modern discman, with mp3,fm and am radio ,tv and weather stations' tunner, then this one's for you!!! But be aware: the hand strap is non removable, and it doesn't appear in the pictures, because it's on the other side of the player, which makes it a little bulky. The pictures should definitively be better.Nevertheless it exceeded my expectations and I'm really happy I got it.
