"Great for painted woodwork" | 2009-05-05 |

I have tried both this brand and the "duck" brand (green packaging with a duck on it), and this is far superior. When I took the duck brand film off the windows, a whole strip of paint came with it (on both old and new paint). I put this over brand new semi-gloss latex paint in December and just took it off today with no problems whatsoever.
You can sure tell it's keeping cold air out by watching the window blind wands bobbing up and down against the film when it's windy out (you can cut a small hole in the film to thread the wand through so you can adjust the blinds). The film will probably stretch out a bit throughout the season if a lot of air is coming through your windows, but that doesn't affect its performance at all - just creates a few extra creases on the film.
I really like this product and recommend it completely. I was really worried that it would take up paint upon removal or that the tape wouldn't stick very well, but everything worked out great. I keep buying this stuff on clearance at the end of every season and will continue to do so. |

The package has all the pieces you need to seal your windows: plastic film and double-sided tape. You'll have to provide your own tools: scissors or an exacto knife and a hair dryer.
If you have unusually-sized windows (I do), I strongly advise measuring them and making sure you get enough plastic and tape to cover them. The product description indicates this item comes with a 62-inch by 210-inch sheet of plastic. You'll have to cut it to apply it to the windows.
I used this product to seal three very large windows in my home office. It's a chilly and poorly-insulated room, but it's been a lot better this winter, thanks to the window insulator kit.
From outside the building you can't tell the windows are sealed. From inside, you can see through the windows fine, but you can see a bit of excess plastic around the windows. It's very minor and is worth the trade-off to keep the room warmer. |

"Great Stuff!" | 2009-02-15 |

| We purchased this to insulate our old house during the winter. It was SO easy to apply and is working great. We set up an 'assembly line' process where my husband cleaned the edges where the tape went, put the tape on, then I cut the plastic and put it onto the windows. We did 8 windows in 2 hours! It sure beats the cost of replacement windows! |

"Incredible difference" | 2009-01-29 |

| I live in a very old house with leaky windows and doors. I used this product on all of the windows and have experienced a huge difference in the temperature. Without the furnace running the house used to lose all of it's warmth and be the outside temperature within a few hours. Now the temperature is held to no more than ten degrees loss (F) overnight. I did not do a very artful job on the installation as my blinds prevent smooth application of the plastic but it works, nonetheless. |

"3M never disappoints" | 2009-01-15 |

If you've ever used generic tape or sticky notes, you know they just can't compare to 3M's Scotch tape and Post-Its; same thing with window shrink wrap--3M's mounting tape is far superior to the less-expensive and more easily obtained tape found in places like Lowe's and Home Depot. Even if you follow to the letter the directions for the non-3M kits, the tape will not hold through a winter.

| 3M uses Scotch for its tape and it is the only way to go. I once used some cheap insulation kit and the tape included did not stick well. |
