The Black & Decker MM875 is a solid machine. Cuts grass cleanly and evenly. Mulches so well that no bagging is necessary. The 19 inch cut is plenty for even large lawns. If you're looking for an electric, buy this one; can't do better.

I bought one of these two years ago, at a considerably higher price by the way, and I love it. Here's why:
* After 40 years of fighting with pull-start gasoline mowers, trying to get them to fire up, this one starts instantly -- ALWAYS! That alone may be worth the $400-plus price I paid.
* I no longer have to go to the gas station to get fuel, and have that hazardous waste hanging around. No more oil to dispose of, too. (Not that I bothered to change it much; what a bother!)
* When I finish mowing the lawn, I don't smell like an exhaust pipe.
* There is virtually no maintenance -- no worrying about water in the gas tank, gas line clogs, changing oil, cleaning filters, getting the spark gap right, cleaning out gas/oil for winter, etc. Plug it in, charge it up, and mow!
* It's a green machine, more environmentally friendly than the gas-and-oil spewing contraptions I've used for years.
* It makes a lot less noise than a gasoline-engine mower (though I would not fire it up at 7 on a Sunday morning).
* It does a surprisingly good job of mulching leaves in the fall.
I wish the cut were more than 19 inches, but that's not a big deal for me. I have about a third of an acre to mow, and it handles that nicely on one charge.
Thanks to the batteries, the unit is heavier than a comparable four-stroke gas mower, but even at age 65, I like the exercise and don't mind the bit of extra effort. Hell, it's good for you!
I do not use the grass-leaf catcher that comes with the mower. I believe in leaving the grass cuttings and chopped leaves in the lawn as nutrient-sources for the grass. I keep the mower elevation setting relatively high off the ground -- it's better for the grass.
I am glad to see the prices of these coming down. At under $200, this is a real bargain.

After having the same gas mower for many years I began to get sick of replacing parts, and the constant smell of gas in my garage. I decided that I wanted this product and that it would fit my needs being as I sit on a small residential lot. It was very easy to assemble, in fact there isn't much besides adjusting a couple knobs and plugging it in. The only draw back to the intial use was getting the height adjustment to stay in poisition. In some positions it took an amount of force to set and lock. After the first few uses it was still mowing very nice. I missed one week of mowing because of rain and didn't think much of it until the next week I mowed and it was only able to mow the front yard. It would just sort of putter out the moment it went over two week old grass for longer then 2 minutes. If you let it sit for a while it seemed to cool down and regain a charge. Having a lot of rain this year has it caused this to happen to me numerous times. The result of this has been a very tall but nice looking yard. Now I may have to either hire someone to mow my yard shorter so I can even go ten feet with mine or buy an additional gas mower.
I wish I would have known...
Not to ever skip a week with this mower
This thing will not mow moderately tall or thick grass
How irritating the height adjustment can be
Not to have sold my old mower in a garage sale

This is a good mower and easy to set up. I have tried Black and Decker uncorded electric mowers and found that they lost power too soon for even my ordinary size yard. Glad I have the corded one now.

This mower works great. I put it to an extreme test this weekend, around 10 inches of grass and it did the work nicely and neatly. The motor was able to take the load and best of all no noisy motor and no gas/oil mixtures to worry about.
