Great product, as is usual for Gerber. This knife is light, small enough to carry in dress slacks, holds an edge and sharpens pretty easily. I love this little knife and use it for everyday applications from opening envelopes to cutting string-trimming nylon cord and small ropes. It is a great value. I carry it in my pocket always, and never notice its presence until I need it.

I am uploading 2 pictures to show the current state of Gerber's manufacturing skill. This knife used to be much better.

Near the tip of the blade, the edge grind is horribly one-sided.

Near the base of the blade, the edge has been ground nearly 1/8" more than necessary. It almost looks like it had been used for years and re-sharpened.

Long ago, this knife had a small raised area inside the handle on either side of the blade, simulating a washer. This prevented the visible portions of the blade tang from rubbing against the handle, which on the new version is producing scratches. It's purely cosmetic, but I don't see why they would have changed this for the worse.

It also used to include a pocket clip which could be attached if you preferred, but now does not.

This is the second Gerber product I bought. Both products exceeded my expectations. First off this knife is very light, almost all the weight is the blade and thats really the way an everyday carrying knife should be. The handle fits my hand well and seems study enough, would probably be stronger if thicker. The blade came sharp, but sharp is relative . Its not carbons steel so it wont stay sharp forever. Bottom line this knife is sturdy, feels like it can take some abuse, and at less than $20 if it breaks, you can always get another one.

This knife is light and small. It fits in my pocket nicely and is comfortable and inconspicuous. It holds an edge nicely and sharpens fairly easily. I say it's "almost" perfect because it suffers from the same defect everyother pocket knife suffers from--you just can't pry anything with it. The knife that has all the attributes of this one and also functions as a pry bar--now that's the perfect knife.

This is my first Gerber knife, and I love it! This is much nicer than similar Buck knives, in my opinion. It is slimmer, less noticable in the pocket. Quality is impressive. When opened its much more balanced than the Buck Bantam..the handle is heavier. Gerber did not try to make the handle super fancy, or high tech looking to attract buyers..it seems they made it to be just right.
