"GOOD IPOD DOCK FOR HOME USE" | 2008-03-03 |

| This iPod dock/stereo is perfect for people who want to use their iPod to play music indoors. It is strong enough to use during a party, and definitely good for general living room (or any big room) use. Recommended for it's power AND because it takes up very little space! A great item... |

"Has its problems" | 2007-10-29 |

The problem I have with this little b*gger is if there's a weak current, it switches itself off. I live in an old building with cr*p electricity so it's always switching off. Then, when it gets a phantom electricity charge, it switches itself back on: at full volume blast!
So I have to constantly get up and go across the room and adjust things.

| I have read other reviews, and Im guessing Im one of the few lucky ones. To begin, I have had this speaker system when it was new on the market. I purchased mine from the Apple Store somewhere in Southern California, around April 2005. I have taken it with me on numerous trips, from Las Vegas to Seattle to Tokyo and back. It has been hooked up to my laptop via audio cable and has become my defacto sound system. Ive hooked up the original ipod mini, to the first color screen ipod to the latest and greatest 80 GB ipod. This system has never failed me in anyway. Still sounds as good as when I bought it a few years ago. Count me as a JBL customer for life. If it can survive all these deployments, along with my neglect and abuse, fluctuating power sources, it can survive anything. |

"Stopped Working" | 2007-03-13 |

| First one speaker stopped working, then the other did. Was just out of warranty, so JBL would do nothing for me. Damned expensive doorstop. Gave it two stars instead of one because the sound was pretty good when it worked. Steering clear of JBL products in the future. |

"Very good sound from a small unit" | 2007-02-08 |

| The sound is surprisingly good, if not quite hi fi, and the unit is small enough to throw in your luggage. You can use it to replace your tinny laptop speakers with the right cord. It doesn't work on batteries, though. My only real complain: you have to be a bit careful: the ipod can move on the connector, possibly damaging the dock and ipod. |

"nice shape, decent playback volume, power adapter is messy though..." | 2006-07-10 |

I selected this product as a lower-price alternative to more elaborate "docking stations for iPods", and got nicely impressed with it.
Mounting my 5th generation iPod (video) was amazingly easy. Also, I was very gladly impressed by the overall volume for a small device, and how easy it is to grab and to carry.
Every single button it has is placed in a place where it makes sense (power button on the back). The "buttons" for increasing or decreasing volume are not only well placed, but well thought (work like the thermal sensors you find in some elevators).
I get the sense that the volume linearity is not that great (but you'll have the option to adjust volume in the iPOD itself). The only thing that I think this lacks [and i'd like to upgrade to a device that has it] is being able to control it with a remote control (the one front row uses).
When you use it to dock an iPod that is projecting video to a TV, it serves as an extra par of speakers that are easy to place whenever you want... and provides a nice sound boost for watching an action TV series.
As per the power supply, it is quite bulky!; that makes it not only uncomfortable to carry, if you're trying to plug it in a wall where the connector is horizontal, it gets so heavy that it removes itself from the plug. |

"My favorite gadget of 2005" | 2006-06-08 |

I got the JBL Onstage speakers back in October, and love them. Not only do they look great, but the sound out of this little gadget is amazing. It's provided the music for several parties and BBQs since I've had it, and people are always amazed by how good it sounds, and how loud it can play and still sound nice.
I have just two small gripes about the OnStage. One, the AC adapter plug thingy is HUGE. It weighs more than the speakers, which makes taking it for travel a little less fun. Two, JBL doesn't yet have a cradle adapter for the iPod Nano. I was told (at the Apple Store) when I bought my Nano (in February) that I could have JBL send me a Nano adapter... they did send me one for free, but really it was just the Mini adapter and a little rubber sticker that you add to it that says "Nano." OnStage still works well with the Nano, but it's not held as firmly in place as I would like.
Overall, though, I can't recommend the OnStage enough! |

"It works... Kinda..." | 2006-05-04 |

| I used this system with my 1st generation iPod using the included cable and was very happy with the performance. I used it in this manner for several months. However, when I used it with my new 40 gb ipod I only got about 2 hours of use out of it before it stopped working. It appears that the connector inside the crade became loose. Long story short, I can no longer use it with the cradle, only with the auxillary cable. I was very disappointed when this happened as it was a $160 item when it was purchased. Hopefully, they've fixed this issue on later models. |
