"No water temperature tolerance specified." | 2009-08-26 |

| I thought this watch was what I was looking for and yep, I was completely in the right track until I went with him on my first trip just 1 week after I got it. I was in the hotel washing my hands with hot water, obviously the hot water covered the watch, then it got suddenly hotter and unbearable, I pulled my wrist immediately out and then just regulated the temperature with more cold water... some hours after that I saw that the watch suffered the hot water impact right beneath the main cristal face, melting the plastic part near the indiglo button, I was so, so sad, so dissapointed as I don't know how many times I exposed my regular $10 50mts Casio watch on water that was even hotter and for long exposure times, termal volcano water springs and so on... and it did suffer not a single thing, not even the rubber bands got melting spots! I'm still using the watch as is completely functional except for the underwater feature, although I'm looking forward to get something different. Probably even a different brand... I'm sorry I really love Timex and I still feeling humble enough to think that this was my complete fault, however I really expected way more on an Expedition(-type) watch, I saw the manuals again and found nothing about specific temperature tolerances, I should say that if you plan to go for instance to a Termal Water Spring Resort you would preferably need to take this watch out of your wirst and let it stay away from one of the most extraordinary pleasures of life. I must say that the water that harmed this watch was below the water temperature you can take for hot tea. |

"its a timex, that much is true" | 2008-06-18 |

I (like many people) have owned a number of timexes over the years and this is a solid member of that long line. For my eyes, the display is greatIts plenty durable, and I like the strap, its more comfortable than the plastic straps on my previous timexes and its lasted longer without cracking or breaking.
You're not going to impress anybody with this digital watch on your wrist, but it keeps time very well for a 'cheap' watch (only timezone changes and daylight savings are any reason to reset the time- and it does 24 hour time). A great walking around outdoors watch. |

| I bought this watch for my son(18) as a Christmas present. I searched for weeks to find just the right watch. I FOUND IT! The only thing he doesn't like about it is the color, but I knew that before I bought it, and thats the only quirk I have is that it didnt offer more color styles. Otherwise, it was well worth the search! |

"OK compass, disappointing watch" | 2007-07-08 |

I'm a huge fan of my Timex "Digital Expedition Chrono Alarm Timer Watch", but occasionally having a compass would be handy. And indeed, the compass on this watch works pretty well. But I'll probably never wear the thing, because it's so poorly designed as a watch.
The buttons are large. I don't much care for them, but they might be nice for someone with limited dexterity. The ridiculous movable ring has no real purpose, makes the watch more bulky, and makes the wearer look stupid. OK, I'm being picky and if these were the watch's only flaws I'd be happy with it.
I just can't understand putting such a pathetic user interface on this watch. My other Timex watch has "+" and "-" buttons for setting the time, timer, and alarm. But not this watch. If you want a 1 minute timer but it was previously set to 2 minutes, you have to cycle through 99 minutes to get back to 1. And your only option is integer minutes, 1 through 99.
There's a single alarm, which will sound at the same time every day. I don't think I'd use it much, since I'd have to remember to set it for my weekday and weekend wakeup times. (My other Timex has three alarms, with daily, weekday, and weekend settings.)
There's no alternate time zone, which I use a lot on my other Timex.
The top right button is dedicated to the compass. That really seems dumb -- do you really need one-touch heading while you're setting the time? Instead, they should use that button for something useful like "+" and "-" for setting times.
The "indiglo" light is inferior to the one on my other Timex. It works fine in dark conditions, but it can be difficult to read in some dim light conditions. |
