This was a good scale for about a year. Then one of the input (up arrow) buttons stopped working. I did not do anything out of the ordinary to cause this. Now it impossible to input the personal data for a new user required for the scale to perform the advanced functions. The current profile is messed up before realizing the up button was not working. It still measures the weight accurately, but all of the advanced functions are not functioning. I see Soehnle has a US site. I will try to get customer service. If they fix it, I will upgrade my rating.

Update 11/2008: I provided Soehnle with proof of purchase, and then they had me mail them the scale (cost me ~$13) for replacement (at their expense). I am supposed to receive it within 3 weeks. I will post back if I do not receive it.

I have no idea why this scale was rated so poorly. I love it! I changed from the weight watchers scale to this, and I couldn't be happier!
I bought this scale a year ago. The first unit I got broke within a month, simply stopped working. Amazon replaced it. This one is now broken too, simply stopped working. (Note: It was not a battery issue, I tried replacing them).
If that isn't enough to dissuade you, the UI is hopeless, you'll need to refer to the instructions any time you want to do something more than the basic measurements. The accuracy of the non-weight measurements leaves something to be desired as well.
Finally, if you're still in love with it because of its looks (as I was), be warned that this scale collects dust, lots of dust. Also, the bottom piece is made of very cheap-looking (and cheap-feeling) plastic.
Do not buy it.

Purchased this scale about a year ago. Worked awesome and we very close to the body fat% a caliper gave me without all the work. The scale as many others have stated stooped work after replacing the batteries. I called Soehnle at 1-866-695-3434 and informed them of the problem. Unlike other reviews of their poor customer services they apologized for the defective scale, gave me a RA#, and told me i would have a new scale in about 2 weeks. I would give this scale 5 stars if not for the defect and aggravation. I will bump my review up to a 4 once I receive my new scale. for those of you having issues use that number above, and don't waste your time dealing with amazon. hope this helps
This product was great while it lasted, as in many reviews already written. However after the battery (which when I originally ordered it was one of those circular batteries) ran out (approx. 1 yr after purchase), the product never fully recovered.
I went to the hardware to purchase the replacement batteries and I put them in. Then whenever someone stood on the scale, it displayed garbage characters on the screen. I tried contacting Soehnle via email, no response. I tried contacting Amazon, citing the "10-yr warranty" mentioned on the description page and was told since 30 days had elapsed my only option is to return it for a partial refund. This product would have gotten 5 stars from me if: 1) the batteries were standard AA or AAA when I originally bought it, and 2) when I replaced the batteries it functioned as it had originally. It was a great scale that helped me monitor my progress while trying out various diets and exercises. But if I'm left with a dead piece of glass and plastic after only a year and I originally paid $76 for it? 2 stars...
