| After having my computer UPS die a few weeks back, I thought I'd have a look and see what is available that might extend the battery life of typical lead-acid batteries. After some research on the Internet, I discovered there are many articles referring to pulse chargers that supposedly break down the sulfation in the battery and return the lead plates to a rechargable state. My first search for such a device is of course at Amazon.com where I found this unit available from Autosupermart.com. I ordered the unit hoping it would prove itself a winner. After waiting 3 weeks with no response from anyone, I finally contacted Autosupermart through a link at Amazon.com. They quickly responded back in less than 24 hours telling me the unit was on backorder from the factory and as soon as it came in they would have it shipped out with priority shipping. After tracking the shipment over the few days, the unit came as they promised. Many thanks to Autosupermart for upgrading the shipment and responding back quickly. The unit itself is very solidly made and easy to use. It is made typical to larger plugin power supplies used with electronic devices where the unit plugs directly into the outlet. I do wish the unit would have had a separate cord on the 110 volt side since there are indicator lights on the box, but that's a trivial thing. There are limitations to recovering weak batteries and the evaluation of such a device is a difficult process. To this point, I haven't had any chance to make a calculated evalution of the successful use of this device (thus only 4 stars here) but evidence from the Internet and useage of such devices by respected organizations suggest this technology works. I will be using this unit nonstop to recover a variety of batteries at home and at work. Maybe I should have gotten 2 or 3 more. |
