4 Star Rating  "Loving the wrap in Korea"2008-04-01

I love this wrap! I have found that in Korea the streets, sidewalks and public transportation is busy. There are a lot of businesses on the top floors and no elevators. Once you get the wrap adjusted and figure out the tension it is great! Not only does this wrap keep baby covered so you do not have to drag a blanket with you. It keeps your hands free, to hold umbrella's, and use hand rails. I have sat on a crowded subway and nursed my baby and no one was the wiser. When my baby was done I moved her around and then she was sitting up and looking around. I like that when you are done using the wrap you roll it up and put it n the bag. It comes with a bag to put the wrap in when you are done for storage, I clip it on to a backpack and it does not take up much room at all.
I have a baby pack also but never use it as it causes back pain and shoulder pain, I have to take the baby out to nurse and carry my hooter hidder and a blanket. With the wrap I do not have to carry all the extras. This is the best thing ever!! I will not leave the house with out it!!

3 Star Rating  "Was only useful when my baby was very small and when it was not too hot"2008-03-01

My husband really liked this, I did too at first. When baby was very small he didn't mind being so snuggled and he would even nurse in there. I also wore it on the airplane. As soon as baby gets too warm or when he gets a bit bigger he struggles to get free of the confinement. Going for walks with it for me felt constricting. Because the material is so stretchy, it readjusts itself instead of staying put and to redo it is not hard, but not graceful and you don't want it dragging about because the fabric is so long. The stretchiness also made it hard to use for a bigger baby as it would sag and he did not want to be held so tight. Sometimes it seemed constricting on the baby's thighs too. Good concept, but my friend tells me the Diddymos wrap is better constructed material-wise. I have ordered the Lascal M1 front carrier and expect it will outperform the baby bjorn active carrier. It's my 5th front carrier, so I'm crossing my fingers.

This looks complicated, but after watching the DVD to make sure I had it right it became much simpler (the instructions look more complicated than they really are).

I wish it came in a longer length so that it would fit both my husband and myself.

This is great for going for walks or doing things around the house, but I haven't figured out the nursing/sleeping setup yet. I've even been to the gym using this wrap. The way it uses both shoulders and you back and abs to support the weight of the baby makes it very comfortable. Enough so that if it was longer my husband would be able to wear it (with our 16lb 2 month old that's an achievement all by itself).

You can't however get a sleeping baby in or out of it without waking them up. The worst thing about it is if your baby is asleep and you want to transfer them to a crib or bassinet (or just quit wearing them for a while).

3 Star Rating  "Buy a Moby instead"2007-12-26

I registered for this thinking that no one would buy us a moby but they might buy the UBW since it was at babies r us. The 5 different ways to carry the baby are appealing and the instructional video explained how to use the wrap pretty well. The front panel doubles as a nice pocket for credit cards, pacifier or a back up diaper. On the downside- the material is too stretchy. I had to keep a hand on my baby at all times to minimize the bounce when I walked (so much for hands free). The fabric stretches the longer you wear it and I kept having to readjust the wrap...which meant having to un load baby and find a place to put him while I adjusted and retyed the end. The adjustable rings are a joke...I just had to tie the ends together, because the rings ended up in the middle of my back!!

In short I've used my wrap a half dozen times...tomorrow I'm headed out for a moby and posting my UBW on Craigslist. Don't waste what precious little "out of the house time" you have...if you want a wrap go for a good one the first time and this isn't it!

This baby carrier is by far the best available. I have used several different types of carriers, including the $100 version, and this one takes the cake! It doesn't dig into your shoulders or hurt the lower back. Plus, my son LOVED being in it. It gave him the closeness he needed while allowing me to get some things done! It was definitely money well spent!!

3 Star Rating  "Good with a couple of flaws"2006-10-21

I bought this when my baby was just a couple weeks old and overall, I was fairly pleased with it. I used it everyday for the first 2 1/2 months and it was a lifesaver - as soon as I would put her in it she would fall asleep and I could eat, do dishes, etc. The fabric is very soft and comfortable and makes the baby easy to wear. I had to watch the DVD to figure out how to wear the thing, but it took me only a few seconds to put it on after that. I would have given the product 4 stars if not for a couple of concerns. First, after wearing the baby for 30 minutes or so the wrap starts to stretch and the baby starts to droop. You either have to readjust the fabric and tighten the rings or let the baby slide. Readjusting is almost impossible to do without waking the baby and it's much easier to just take the baby out and start over - which isn't really what you want to do. Letting the baby droop isn't an acceptable option either. My other problem with it was that it is not the sort of thing you can take with you to put on in a store. Because there is so much fabric, it would be near impossible to put it on without dragging the ends on the ground. If you wanted to wear it out to the mall or the grocery store I would suggest putting it on before you left the house.
It's a perfectly fine sling and it served its purpose when my baby was little. If I have another one, I'll probably buy a different sling.

5 Star Rating  "Best wrap ever"2006-06-28

I had a Baby Bjorn style carrier with my first son who absolutely hated it. With my second son, I found this wrap. He is a baby who loves to be held 24 hours a day. This wrap allows me to still carry him and have my hands free to take care of my toddler and household chores. Whenever my newborn gets fussy, I put him in the carrier in the front facing position and he is asleep within 5 minutes. I also love the front pocket. Plenty of room for whatever I need to carry with me. It is also extremely comfortable. I have carried him in it for hours and never have backache or shoulder pain. It does take awhile to get the technique figured out but after a couple times it is really easy.

This is the most amazeing product, I am so glad I found it. From the time my son was born he has loved being in his wrap. I use it mostly when shoping even to this day (and he's almost one). It is simple to put on with only a few pratice runs needed. Offers wonderful head suport for a sleeping newborn and a ton of difernt positions. Not only is it conforable for the baby to be snugled close to you but it is confortable for you. The only SMALL problem I have ever had with this wrap is that it dose make both you and the little one extra warm so I would limits its use outdoors in the heat. I definetly recomen this to anyone who is intrested in a less ridged way to carry you little bundle.

5 Star Rating  "the only carrier my baby will use"2006-06-07

I read a lot of reviews and looked at a lot of carriers before buying this one. We bought the UBW a week or two after our little one was born. We were given a Snugli and had bought a sling-type carrier, but DD would not even let me put her in the Snugli without screaming and the sling had lots and lots of cushy fabric and was just too hot.

Although daunting at first, this wrap is so easy to get on (DVD really helps) and I haven't seen any other reviewers mention that once it's on, it's "poppable"--baby can be taken in and out multiple times (may need to tighten at the rings tho) without removing the wrap. You can put your baby into the wrap in any of the 5 positions after only having put the wrap on once. That is a big plus I think!

I have had trouble with the sleeping/nursing position--just can't seem to get everything adjusted well. It is either too loose or too tight, and DD seems to not like having the fabric over the back of her head holding her tightly to my breast.

Also, it does tend to get a little warm at times. Here in Los Angeles and both DD and I being quite "warm-blooded" there are times where I wouldn't be able to use it outdoors because of the heat factor. I bought a mei tai for this reason, thinking DD would be cooler, but she'll have none of the mei tai!!! So I just dress her very lightly and use the UBW.

As for other posters talking about their baby screaming while they are getting the wrap on--I imagine that could happen with many wraps, but I'll tell you, when DD sees that I am putting this on, she calms down and watches me. Kids learn quick, and I am convinced she knows she's about to be snuggled up next to Mama in a few seconds. In any case, even if she has to scream while I get it on, there are times where she won't stop being fussy or fall asleep if I am merely holding her in my arms. At 3 mo old, she still seems to need the swaddley feeling of the wrap. After being put inside, she's asleep with a little dancing and shhhh-ing in just a couple of minutes.

This is the best product I have purchased for my baby. I have bought this product for 2 friends since purchasing my own, and will continue to give this as a shower gift to every new mom. It has truly made a huge difference in my ability to not only get things done and go about the day, but also in my ability to soothe and mother my daughter in a way that she loves.
