| We already owe a Bose in our living room so when we redid the bedroom I was looking forward to replacing our cheap alarm clock/radio/cd player with the Bose. When it comes it sound quality its great and we already knew to get an extra remote....however my biggest complaint (and this is key in the bedroom) the alarm clock only wakes to music (radio/cd) what no old fashion alarm buzz (it never occured to me to check the literature on that and we never used the alarm on the living room model). So ifs important to you (and it is to me) be warned. |

WE are pretty satisfied with our Bose Wave System purchase from Amazon. However, the unit we bought was reported to be new, but was actually slightly used, and the package did not contain an operator's manual. That made us feel a little bit taken by the dealer. The unit itself works very well, and Bose deserves its great reputation for great sound from a small apckage. The CD drive has given us some fits as it rejects many disks that are in good condition but it will not load them. Don't know why, but some have worked after using a disk cleaning system on them. |

I cannot believe this thing has no buttons.
Hit the snooze with the remote control?
I don't think so.
As an object, an electronic device with no buttons is like a parapalegic.
A remote is not a necessity, on any electronic device. It is a convenience. Being forced to use what is erstwhile a convenience feels like house arrest.

"Don't Buy!" | 2008-08-01 |

I enjoyed my old Bose Radio /CD Player for five years and decided to "upgrade" to the better sound quality of the Wave System. I purchased a Wave Music System and CD Changer. Another reviewer said the CD player in these units is Dollar-store quality. That's being generous. The base Wave unit regularly "captures" CD's, often for several days, before deciding to eject the disc. Okay, I thought, just use the Changer. Wrong. The Changer more often than not balks, skips, and otherwise rebels if you try to get it to read a disc. Sometimes if you let it "rest" for several hours it will get over the rebellion. Usually you have to unplug and "reboot" the Changer, which corrects the problem every once in a while. Both units were returned to Bose and replaced (they were good about this) but are STILL not working properly. The second Changer is actually worse than the one that was returned. I won't bother returning these units again, but won't make the mistake of purchasing Bose equipment in the future. The CD sound quality IS better than my "old" Bose Radio/CD player (when it's working), but the "old" one is DEPENDABLE. I agree with other reviewers the radio sound quality just ain't worth the price. I don't mind having to use the remote as much as other buyers, but purchased extras in case I lost one. They're cheap. If I could purchase the Wave Music System and CD Changer again -- I wouldn't. The money I spent on these units is WAY too much for the quality. Bose used to deliver quality to their customers. Not any more. |

| Great sound, great looks, pricey but worth every penny! Replaces the large component system that took up a lot of space and block the window view in our dining room. It's like going from the large back breaking 500 lb big screen TV to the large plasma and HD flat screen TVs. I have purchase three Bose music systems in the last year - two radio/CD players - one for my 74 year old Mom and one for my dinning room and one entertainment system for my husband's Jazz room to go with his 52 plasma TV. My husband now wants to purchase another radio/CD player to replace the stereo component set and enhance our 42 plasma TV in our bedroom. |

Amazing device. I had a chance to listen to this music system in Las Vegas at Red Rock Hotel. Simply amazing. Back to NY I ordered one from Amazon. A little expensive bur once I received it I forgot about the price. For people that complain about the lack of buttons did you know that there is a Integrated Controller sold for $39 by Bose? http://www.bose.co.nz/site/images/store/groups/pg_00071-MANUAL.pdf

Pros: The sound, the sound, the sound Cons: Too expensive, CD player has issues
I bought my Wave about two years ago and I have to say that I can hardly listen to regular speakers anymore without cringing. Of course, I can't afford to Bose-ize my entire speaker assortment and it took me a while to make up my mind to get it (I don't like to overprice just for a brand sticker if the product doesn't deserve it) but I'm happy I did eventually shell out the cash for it. It's hard to believe that such expansive, rich sound can come out of such a small box and at first you'll be marvelled at how sound seems to be coming from places where there's no speakers; it does create a very "there" experience.
Issues with the design seem to be more of a personal taste thing. While customization in the form of a bunch of knobs and buttons sounds good, I'm sure I'd have found a good setting and left them there most of the time so I'm not against the button-less design as it's quite stylish and unique. That said, a hidden, inset eject button would have been useful for when you need to change CDs without having to unplug/replug the unit if you've temporarily misplaced the remote. Speaking of the remote, it does have quite a reach and I can usually use it from another room in the house just as long as I'm pointing towards the bedroom door. I've even used it under the covers and it works.
When I first got my Wave the CD player started getting stuck and ejecting some CDs on its own within the first 30 days. I returned it back to Bose who sent me a new unit free of charge but the CD issues resurfaced a couple of months later. Since I didn't care for the hassle of sending it back again as it seems to be a design flaw, I kept it. Nowadays I do get the CD issues every once in a while but they are not as annoying or as frequent as they seemed at first. For the most part, it plays just fine. I love Bose speaker technology, but they don't make the best CD players. In all fairness though, the unit plays hassle-free both audio and MP3 CDs 95% of the time and with great sound. Recommended.

| I love the sound of the Bose products. I have a couple of Bose speakers for my stereo that I've owned for years. This sound system gets really good reception and I'm able to use it as an alarm clock as well. It's compact size is a big plus. I would recommend this product to anyone. |

I speak from personal experience...my uncle Dan recently passed away, and for some strange reason decided to will me his Bose Wave music system---I think it was some twisted joke of his, since he knew full well that I despise Bose for the massive consumer rip-off scam that it is. Well, against my better judgement I decided to plug this thing in and play a few CDs on it...ugh! What an abomination! The sound is typical Bose: castrated highs, muted lows, hollow midrange, and wimpy power even in my smallish guest bedroom (10 x 12 feet). Also typical of Bose: no tone controls or any other sound adjustment features...you're just stuck with their trademark dead sound, don't believe all the corporate shills posting superlative reviews on Amazon and other sites. My fifteen year old eighty dollar Sony CD boombox sounded worlds better in comparison!
Luckily there are plenty of hearing-impaired fools in this world: I put the Bose Wave-joke on eBay and sold it for a cool three hundred bucks...and spent about twenty bucks of it on fresh flowers for my uncle's grave. Uncle Dan had a perverse sense of humor, but I'm sure he knew that I'd get a good price for it, because as he loved to say, "There's a sucker born every minute!"
