| The sound that comes out of these small speakers cannot be beat. Well at least not for the price! I opted for this instead of a boise audio system, and am very happy with my purchase. They are even with me now at work playing music, and movies, and the sound quality is excellent. i strongly recommend purchase of these to anyone i know. simply because if you want better you will have to spend at least 2x the price to achieve it in this small of a package. |

"Great Small Speaker with Large, Clear Sound - Very Compact" | 2007-07-16 |

| A coworker had one of these Lansing speaker sets and lent it to me for an office party. I was surprised how great it worked with my portable radio in a noisy crowd in a large space. I have bought 2, one for home and one for traveling. It was great for family gatherings where we could hook up our mp3 players and share our playlists. The set fold compactly into its own small cloth bag. It is light, easy to use and offers the versatility of using the retractable cable in the back or the other cable. This is perfect for a small apartment. It fits anywhere. Form and fuction on a budget. |

I wanted the ability to move my mp3 player(Archos 504) around the house and I first considered the Archos speakers but the salesman told me that those speakers aren't that loud. After reading the reviews on the Altec Lansing speakers, I decided to go with them. Also, I have always chosen Alstec Lansings for my PC speakers.
My verdict--they are much smaller and lighter than I expected. However, the sound quality is very good, not muffled or garbled. Bass response is true, you don't get that thumping like you get with inferior speakers. When I turn the volume all the way up on the MP3 player and the speakers, the volume is adequate; I would like it to be louder. I listen to various kinds of music from jazz, classical, vocalists like Billie Holiday and Dinah Washington and dance music like Junior Vasquez. The dance music can definitely be louder.
I plan to add the Boosteroo like one of the other reviewers suggested. But I can't complain. I am only giving them 4 stars because of the volume. In all other aspects, these speakers shine. |

| The sound produced by the Altec Lansing IM4 portable speaker system was adequate, although I expected better Bass response. The Volume was good compared to the built in speaker on my HP Pavillion. The size and compactness of the system was great. Very easily include in most laptop carrying bag. I also liked the dual power options. The system will run on 4 aa batteries ( not included ) or the supplied Ac Power adapter. |

These two speaker do their job pretty well. You can't expect really high-end sound reproduction from two cigarette package sized speakers, but they really do sound quite OK. Vocal and instruments are clear and not muffled or garbled, and if you are within 3 feet you may actually have something of a stereo perspective. With these speakers, you listen to the music, not the metallic garble found in most speakers this size.
You can't play loud enough to make conversation impossible, but at max volume (meaning the level before distortion, not the extreme position of the volume knob) conversation is becomming just a bit difficult. Of course, the maximum level would also depend on your source level, but the speakers don't appear to be difficult to drive.
The battery lasts quite some hours. I haven't compared with the sale brochure, but I'm happy with it. Start the party with fresh batteries, and it'll probably be good for the night. Used with a wall socket, I give extra plus for the international power supply: The solution with snap-on plugs is ingenious! |

"Exactly what I needed" | 2006-12-14 |

| I have been looking around for some speakers that I could use to play my mp3 player, which is NOT an ipod. The search was pretty frustrating. I found these speakers on Dell's website for only $67, and after reading some reviews, I felt like I should give them a try. They are exactly what I needed. The whole unit is much smaller than it looked to me online. The bass is really great... this unit has put life and energy back into the music that I love. And, I am able to listen to it more frequently because I don't need to be attached to my mp3 player by headphones. Overall, I'm very pleased. |
