| I selected this iron based on the product reviews at many sites. It always rated at the top. I've only used it once since I purchased it but was very pleased. |

"What a terrific iron!" | 2008-10-08 |

| I've just received this iron, and I've never had such a handy gadget before. It heats up almost immediately, holds a steam blaster for tough wrinkles, glides effortlessly over any fabric, and shuts itself off if left unattended (ten minute time-out if it's vertical, one minute if it's lying on its faceplate). I would feel rather silly just describing how to use an iron, but this one does everything so well, from filling the reservoir to blast-cleaning the iron of deposits. I hate ironing, but this makes it almost fun. |

| After reading other reviews, I wonder if the reviewers used the same iron I did. This iron is heavy. The sole-plate does not slide easly over many materials even though the iron is on the correct setting. Finally the very first time I used it, it beeped that it was ready. I set it down and water ran out of the bottom, something I hate in an iron, and no it was not over-filled. So you can understand why I am not thrilled with this iron. |

| Black Decker D2030 Auto-Off Digital Advantage Ironbr /The digital controls are easy to use and steam volume control is very effective. The iron heats up quickly and maintains the temp you have selected. Water chamber fills quick and easy because it is vented and has a hinged snap-down sealing cap which prevents water spills if iron is tipped. Has a highly polished sole plate that glides easily and has lots of steam holes. Excellent performance. Makes ironing a little less bothersome.br /My only complaint, there is no true power on/off switch. Iron can be shut down, but red indicator stays on telling you there still is power at the iron. Directions state "disconnect iron from electrical outlet when not in use." This can be a nuisance when the wall outlet is not conveniently located. That was my situation, so between the iron and wall outlet I installed a 15-amp power strip with a 6 foot cord and an on/off switch. Now I can switch off the iron without unplugging it. |

"Better than other B&D irons" | 2008-10-01 |

I purchased a cheaper model B&D iron in a department store but I had to return it because it leaked water all over my clothes. I saw the D2030 as a top pick in Consumers' and others here gave it rave reviews so I purchased this model. I am very happy to say it is much better than the other B&D model which looks nearly the same. It's put together better and it doesn't leak. The digital display is nice, but not really that big a deal. I also like the cord which swivels all directions and allows the iron to sit upright easily. It is well balanced when resting too.
My only gripe is the wheel that controls the steam doesn't have "notches" to hold the setting and because its right where your fingers go, it's easy to accidentally turn off the steam. The good news is its easy to turn back on too.

| Although this iron does not have a non-stick bottom the stainless sole plate makes ironing quite easy. It performs as advertised and as reviewed on Consumer Reports. The water useage is a bit high but this is not a big drawback. The most important feature about this iron is its ability to reach and hold a selected heat setting quickly. No iron we have found so far had this ability. If it has the durability we expect this iron will finally be one we can recommend...certainly better than the Rowenta irons for which we paid 2x the price of this iron. |
