| The timing light works just as advertised. A couple of items I would improve are: The length of the battery leads, and the brightness of the light. This is a little predjudiced, however; I live in NM, where the sun shines bright most days. With a little overhead cover, the light is sufficient. As far as the length of the leads, I have an '81 Westy Vanagon, where the battery is located beneath the passenger seat, and the engine is in the rear (trunk). I don't know if any timing light would have sufficiently long cables to reach that far. It is easily overcome by pulling up another vehicle to the back of the Westy. |

My first "working" timing gun, had bought from sears before and recieved a broken one "different model and not off amazon" sears stores have really gone downhill in my area, they are filthy and low quality, sears online is still good.
Onto the review, the product is bright enough to see comfortably in full sun, as others have said, and picks up the signal quite well on 8mm wires "this is what i use and haven't tested on anything else" overall it is very nice for the price and am satisfied with the quality. This is not a top end gun, but perfect for someone like me, who just needs to do tune-ups on my old firebird. So it won't get heavy use, if you are going to use a gun all the time, I suggest getting one with an advance dial on it. Plus always remember to mark the timing mark with white paint, or at least clean it and remove any rust on the timing markings. Sorry I do not have the proper words for the parts. |

| This is an excelent cost/benefit product. In daylight (out of garage) you still can tune your engine with this tool. |

| I used to have a cheap light that worked - if you were able to get six inches away from the target and were in complete darkness. The Actron CP7504 is sooo much better. Very bright and focused. Heavy duty inductive clamp, heavy and long cables with ample battery clips. I especially like the tough red plastic body. No metal to bang on my paint and very light weight. For under $40 you can't go wrong. I have never needed any other bells and whistles - just light and bright. This fits the bill.... |
