I bought this book as a birthday gift for a young lady who has a heart for orphans as a ministry to the Lord Jesus. Her faith has gone way higher and her heart is more secure in her calling in this direction as a result of reading this book. I was a little disappointed in the size(which i didnt check before i bought it) only because it was a gift. The contents way outshine the cover!

This book is an encouraging book of a man who lived a life of faith. Because of his vision, many orphans were cared for and saw God moving in miraculous ways. We need more men today to live by faith and walk with God.

I was so encourage by George Muller's life. Some real person like you and me lived a life so faithful and God also faithfully treated him. When our motivation is right with God, we can wait with assurance for his blessing. Wish more Christian be encouraged by this book. Wonderful book! The Binding is not so good though. Pages started to fall off after one read.

This book is a challenge on every page. It challenges you to pray expecting. It challenges you to pray. The answers to pray Mr. Muller saw is incomprehensible. I am moved by his committment and time spent in prayer. A must read.

George Muller set the example of how to depend on God and live by faith. Many of us ask God for monetary help and then set to work out our own deliverance. Churches and individual Christians could benefit greatly by reading this book.

This man puts to shame the cheap easy religion of the modern church. The Bible tells us to LAY HOLD of eternal life (1Tim6:11) and so he did and NEVER let go! How unlike the current version of saving faith that teaches people to set back and enjoy the ride. Any effort put forth in obedience to scripture is considered 'legalism' and heralded as a works salvation. Anyone with half a brain can see what this has produced over the last hundred years. The decadence of our society is testimony enough to prove how far the church has stayed from the precepts of the Gospel. Heart purity and righteousness of life are long gone our church pulpits. Rather than seeking God in sincere prayer with a broken heart, weeping for the lost and burning with a holy zeal to serve the Lord, professing Christians are off pursuing vain amusements and 'believing' themselves saved while vacant of the true holiness of Christ. George Muller should serve as an example to all that we serve a LIVING God, not a dead theology. Scripture says that the 'Spirit gives life, while the letter kills' Today they have it reversed because people are unwilling to forsake their sin and come to the Cross for destruction of the flesh. Don't attempt to emulate Mr. Muller's results without first having a FAITH that works by love, Purifies the heart and has Victory over the world. You may 'appear' to have the blessings of God in your life, but unless this kind of faith is at work in your soul (cleansing & purifying you daily!) Rom2:4 applies. You have 'believed' in vain. (1Cor15:2)

Although some may criticize this edition as being incomplete, it nevertheless covers most of the important elements of Muller's life. I've re-read this book many times. The story is stunning. What an inspiration!

Returned to this book after interesting citations in John Piper's The Pleasures of God. To my dismay, I found, as did another reviewer, that this paperback ends quite before the original work does, and cuts out some heartfelt commentary about the illness of Muller's daughter. Ouch! However, I am using it in daily devotionals with my two sons (10 & 12) to great effect. So, while the book is shorter than I'd like for personal reading, it seems just the right length for younger readers and thoughtful discussion as in family worship settings.
