SIMPLY OUTSTANDING!!! This is one of the greatest "Live" album double cd's that I am aware of. It can only be compared to "the Allman Brothers Band - "Live at Filmore East" back in the days of the late Duane Allman, and "One More from the Road" by Lynyrnd Skynyrd recorded at Atlanta's Fabulous Fox Theatre back in the days of the late Ronnie Van Zant.

It consists of 10 live songs on disc 1 and 12 live songs on disc 2. This one has been reviewed alot,so I'll just point out some songs that really stood out for me:

Disc one: "Fruits of my Labor", "Sweet Side", "Lonely Girl, and "Changed the Locks" (This is one is very, very, very GOOD!!!!).

Disc 2: "I Lost it", "Pinola", Rightously, "Joy", "Real Live Bleeding Fingers", "world without Tear", and "Bus to Baton Rouge".

THIS IS A TRUE MASTERPIECE, AND I HIHGLY RECOMMEND IT!!! THANKS AND GOD BLESS!!!

I first heard the compelling nasally slow draw (in the good sense) voice of Lucinda Williams on tribute albums. First, on the Hank Williams tribute album, "Timeless", where she did a cover of his classic tale of love's trials and tribulations "Cold, Cold Heart". I mentioned in a review of that CD that very seldom did anyone cover a Hank Williams song better than he did himself. I noted the exception of Lucinda on that rendition of "Cold, Cold Heart". I also made the same statement on her cover of Mississippi John Hurt's "Beulah Land" on his tribute album. Finally, I noted the fine job that she did on a duet with John Prine on "Wedding Bells" on his "In Spite Of Ourselves" cover album of country classics.

That said, although I have high, very high regard for Ms. Williams' cover work I am more ambivalent about her own albums. This album under review is such a case. I do not understand what is driving her on some of these songs. She, obviously, can write thoughtfully of love, lost, the cruel nature of the world, her family and other subjects but for the most part that feeling I got from the above-mentioned efforts is missing here. A few do, however, stand out. "Lonely Girls", "Blue", "Bus To Baton Rouge" and "Words Fell" clearly rise to the occasion. As I say, the rest is so-so and suffer a little from trying to cross-over to some kind of country `hip-hop' format.

``Live at the Fillmore'' is my favorite Lucinda Williams album, which puts it on top of a tall stack of excellent performances. Be advised, however, that it is un-processed, and doesn't have the polish of a studio recording. That, in my opinion, is its strength; Williams comes out sounding half drunk, but that works wonders as she reaches down to her emotional core and delivers soul piercing renditions of familiar songs.

I have been trying to listen this album for some time but it's intolerable.

I listen to Lucinda constantly, have for years, she is a wonderful and soulful artist, I certainly dig her whole style and groove but this performance is just depressing so out of my life it goes. It really upsets me to hear her sounding so bad, it is puzzling how this performance was so bad and why it was released! We should have been spared this.

I love these CD's. She starts out with slow mellow music and builds to some great rock.
