| With all their other albums, there are always tracks I really like a lot and some I'm not so keen on, but with this one, I like all of it. A good dancey album, from the brilliant "Galvanize" to the end. Stand out track for me is the brilliant hip hop inspired "Left Right". Most tracks have a slightly different feel to them than the rest, even though the upbeat dancey theme seems to run throughout. Great! |

| Just to be clear, the music on this album rates 4 stars for me, but issues with the CD (described later in this review) significantly degrade its value. I am not a huge Chemical Brothers fan (I only have 2 of their other albums), but loved their web promotion for "Galvanize" and "The Boxer" (both are excellent songs). So I bought the CD and was not disappointed with any of the tracks. "Awesome," I thought, and I decided to put the album on my Creative MP3 player. Unfortunately, this CD refuses to be ripped! It's encoded with "Copy Control" protection and will launch its own software player when the disk goes in a PC. What's more the CD does not play in my car or Xbox! I have one CD player in the house that can play this disk if I want to hear the album through decent speakers. Fortunately there are ways around the copy protection, but it really is a shame that EMI doesn't want anyone who buys this CD to be able to play the music in a format other than what's on the disk. It's no wonder CD sales are going down the tubes when record companies release defective merchandise like this CD. Buyer beware! |

| I've been a Chemical Brothers fan ever since I heard "The Sunshine Underground" from a friend of mine. Really, that was the only song of theirs I owned and had every listened to until I got curious about the Budweiser Select commercial. After a quick google search, I was floored that the artists who wrote the song on the commercial that I was groovin' to were the Chemical Brothers, which led me to check out the CD and make the purchase as soon as possible. Note: the sample song previews on Amazon do not do the songs justice, the tracks on the CD soar above and beyond what any clip could provide. The Chemical Brothers' effort on this CD pays off with true works of art. They have such thick, lush layers of percussion creating something new to listen to almost every time you listen to a song while still relating everything to the pulsing bass which defines their music. The pieces on this CD are extremely busy in a very good way, and I have kept this CD within easy reach since I bought it half a year ago. These are genre-bending artists, and this CD is a wonderful purchase. |

The urgent political message from Anwar Superstar on Left Right is the cornerstone to this ambitious project from The Chemical Brothers.
Galvanize is a classic merging of pop sensibilities with an infectious, signature rhythm. Boxer is pure 1970s funk, but the sonic overload of Come Inside & The Big Jump - the layers of sounds merge into a clubland tour-de-force - demonstrates how an ambitious electronic vision can be accomplished in the studio.
Believe & Hold Tight London pack solid grooves, while Surface To Air would arguably be the top choice on a CD not packed with so many solid cuts.
But it's Left Right that propels Push The Button. If you have any concern at all with the perverse drama of the world stage, the song will make you sit down & think. And that means The Chemical Brothers ultimately did push the right button.

This was worth the wait. Their follow-up to the slammin' Come With Us, has that same Chemical Brothers' sound, without being formulaic or stale. I've been a fan for years and am always pleased with their offerings. I've turned some of my younger professors on to the Chems as music to code to. Launch your developer, pop in the CD, or launch iTunes and code on. This has almost replaced Surrender as my favorite Chemical Brothers' album. |

DO NOT BUY ANY CDS THAT SUPPORT THIS TECHNOLOGY. |

Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons should have called themselves The Historical Brothers instead. Not only did they meet each other in History class, but they have made such an immense impact on music in the relatively short 13 years they have been around that the duo will no doubt go into the books as one of the most influential artistes in electronica, rock and beyond.
With their fifth studio release Push The Button, The Chemical Brothers continue to present their winning formula, which always sounds different, but yet always remains very distinctively theirs. Surprising collaborations, new sounds, and production quality as smooth as can ever be, this is the crème de la crème of electronic music. Simply put, it just doesn't get any better than this. |

| The Chemical Brothers produce a better CD with each release. Push the Button is no exception. The explosions and random sound effects add flavor to the tracks. The Bros took a nice approach adding guitars and hip-hop to their musical ensemble. Hip-hop is not one of my favorite genres so Left Right was pushing it for me. The Boxer is my favorite song because of the sweet combination of electronic beats, drums, pianos, singing, and sound effects (ka-boom!). Well done! |

To write a 4 star review for one of my favorite bands. This is a good album, but not great by any means. And it's not because of the declining big beat style, not because of the lack of new tunes (althought there are some genuine tries), not because of some mediocre songs (I can't like everything), it's just that I don't get the idea behind this album.
The Chems have been accused in the past year that they can't come up with anything new, what we get is just the repolished formula of Exit Planet Dust and Dig Your Own Hole but that wasn't true in my opinion. The sound became better, they found their own ground which is only theirs and that's true evolution. They wanted to show this time that they CAN do it once again.
Well, the album starts strong with "Galvanize", a crazy collaboration with Q-Tip (this is THE style), I liked the song immediately. But then... it shifted into mediocre songs in the middle part with some exceptions ("Beleive", "Hold Tight London") and it contains a big mistake: "Shake Brake Bounce". This song's place is not on a Chem Bros album. The end is strong again, with "Marvo Ging" and "Surface To Air", although it never somes close to Dig Your Own Hole's closing 3 songs.
So in the final analysis it gets 4 stars because this is still quality music but they can do it better. As a long-time fan, I expected more. Anyway, it's fun to listen to this album, but the magic has gone. I hope it comes back. The time will come to create a great album once again. |
