"The Best Swing"

Initially I bought a more expensive swing that runs on electricity. My son hated it.
I was visiting my brother's family and tried this swing and my first born absolutely loved it. I borrowed it and used it until he was too old for it.
As soon as I got pregnant with my second, I told my husband "if we intend to get any sleep, we better buy that swing." So we bought this swing and once again, we love it.
"Our favorite swing"

Between our 2 children we have had both of the top selling Fisher Price models - the Ocean Wonders and the Papasan cradle swings. While we have been happy with both, our favorite by far is the Ocean Wonders. The mobile on it is SO much better, with the hanging toys and the lights. My oldest son actually still plays with the fish toys that hung from his swing mobile when he was a baby -- he loves them to this day! My youngest son got the papasan swing instead and while it functions basically the same the mobile just isn't very interesting in comparison. Our papasan swing broke recently and Fisher Price (excellent customer service) is cutting us a check for a replacement -- we'll be getting another Ocean Wonders instead of the papasan.

Got this as a gift from my sister when her son was done with it. It is now ofically 5 years old and still works great. My boys still use it and it is just a good today was the day that I got it.
I am a new first time Mom, my son is 3 weeks old and he is generally very calm, however at night time and in the mornings he can get a bit fussy at times and causes me to loose sleep several days in a row. This swing is amazing in that it puts him to sleep within minutes of being placed into it! I have it in my home office at the moment so I can finally start working again! He is wonderful in it! It has 6 speed settings however the difference in speeds is minuscule.
Alot of reviewers complain about the noise it makes, frankly it does not bother me, I take it as though it is just another sound setting. It is actually quite soothing, downright put me to sleep last night! Which is a plus considering the music on drains the battery faster then anything plus you have to keep resetting it. I'll play the music while he's awake, but if he's starting to doze off, I let it go and he falls asleep to that whooshing sound. Again very soothing, not at all noisy! Plus its way better then the sound of the baby crying anyway!
Overall I love this swing, I just got it yesterday and have already used it in the two difficult times I have with him sleeping. So I'm already sold. If I find I need to add to this review at a later date I will, but for now it truly is a Godsend for my sanity!
"Great swing, poor sound quality, good battery life"

You'd think, for the cost of this swing, that Fisher-Price could spring for a decent-quality speaker. The musical arrangements are nicely done, but the sound is so tinny that we never use the music setting. It's odd because we have a Fisher-Price papasan vibrating chair with excellent sound quality. Even so, the poor sound quality of this swing is fine for the noise settings (ocean waves, rainfall, running water), it's just bad for the music. That, and the creaking noise it makes while swinging, are the reasons I'm taking one star off an otherwise excellent product.
This swing has a lot of useful features. It swings side to side or back and forth by rotating the seat. The seat rotation locks at 0° and 90° but there's no reason you can't set it at some other angle like 45° as it stays firmly in place (we tried that but our baby didn't enjoy that position). The seat has two incline positions, one for newborns and one for when the baby can sit up or at least hold up his head. It has a merry-go round with fishes for the baby to watch, in the center of which is a tank of liquid containing plastic shapes that float and dance with the swinging, as well as an LED light in the middle that changes color. Plus the aforementioned sound.
The sounds, lights, and merry-go-round are independently selectable, and they automatically shut off after 10 minutes or so while the swing keeps going. You can press a reset button to start the whole thing up again.
The swing seems well-designed for safety, in which everything is out of the baby's reach so he can't injure himself by contacting moving parts.
Battery life is amazingly long if you use ONLY the swing and no other electronic features. You can tell the battery is running down when the merry-go-round won't run, or the music sounds unsteady and out of tune. But if you don't use these, it seems that hardly any energy is needed to maintain the swinging. We play classical music on the stereo while the baby swings, and he was too young to notice the other gadgets so we didn't use them. Our first set of batteries lasted 3 weeks!
There is a creaking noise that develops in the frame, which you can mitigate somewhat by oiling the pieces where they join together.
I bought mine used for about 1/3 the price of a new one, but after using it I think I would be willing to pay the full price. It's a worthwhile investment.
