I bought this fan to replace a Patton Air Circulator fan. While this Vornado is smooth, mostly metal, and looks really cool, it does not move as much air as a big Patton fan.
However, Patton fans are now made in China, and they are terrible. This Vornado runs smoothly, like the fan has been balanced, and on its high setting is comparable to a Patton fan.
I like this fan a lot. Cool retro styling, smooth operation, almost silent on its low setting. I recommend it.

I have an original of this fan. The replica looks EXACTLY like the original. By the way, mine still works GREAT, so if the redux works as well for as long, the value is there, even at the price.

This fan is really cool looking. I love the green color. I agree with the other reviewers regarding the plastic at the base. Furthermore the fan blades are plastic as well. I feel it does not push enough air (ie it should have a higher setting). I also wish the cord was attached to the base instead of the fan itself as it is less attractive. It should also have a handle to help in carrying it. The high setting to me is too loud. I have fans that push more air (allaire bought from Restoration Hardware) that are much quieter and cost the same.
I would love to see them recreate the floor model of this fan. which should be easy as it is the same fan with a stand. This would be expensive but I surely would buy it!
Love the looks and air movement - but it is not quiet. Within 2-3 weeks started with a low rumble that sounds like bearings going bad. Worst when the fan is horizontal - which is ho you'd like it most of the time.

The first one i received had a noisy motor. But, as always Amazon was quick with the return. The second one is quiet and works great. There are a few things that were overlooked in the design. First, the original had a small handle to pick it up by. Also, The cord and control is on the back of the motor. The original model had the cord and control on the base, which is cleaner looking and easier to use. Lastly, I agree with other reviewers that the plastic emblem is cheap looking. The entire fan is metal. Except the blade and cheesy emblem. They made one improvement over the original, the safety grill is much better.
"Expensive for a table fan but oh so wayyyyy cool!"
I got this one off Ebay and I like the retro look and for a Chinese made fan, the quality is amazing. It is very quiet on all 3 speeds, sturdy, and energy efficient. Plus it tilts upward to use as a hassock style fan to pick up cook air from the floor and move it around. I rate this fan a buy IF you don't mind parting with a c-note.
