I had a USA spec interface with my stock Toyota head unit and it was great but the Premier system is a bit nicer. I don't mess with my music very much and just throw the Ipod in and let it sit for up to month at a time... not that picky about what is on so slowness between different navigation options is not an issue for me. More importantly it uses the 16 pin connector and I listen to mostly lossless/ flac using the rockbox software instead of the stock apple (advertising heavy/ itunes interface). The main reason I got this is that Premier/ pioneer have great auto eq functions in their decks now and the DAC's in the head unit are better than what are in the ipod.

I had expectations that this device would allow me to use my ipod on my moniter headunit as if the ipod screen was on the moniter, but thats not the case. you cant scroll down and see a list of songs it brings you to each individual title of either Aritst, song, playlist, or anyother group of lists of songs, so its hard to get to the song you want to listen to.. if you do buy this product i recomend you make good playlists so you can just switch to any playlist you would like.. other then that i still use it and im pritty pleased...

I bought the CD-IB100ii (Newer version of the CD-IB100) to use with my Pioneer Premier DEH-P980BT receiver. This setup works fine with my Third gen Nano, my iPod Touch (First gen), but it will not work 100% with the iPhone 3G. You can still use the iPhone 3G with this setup and get the same functionality as the other iPod models, but charging is disabled. (You can buy the new Scosche PassPort adapter which should enable charging functionality.) Also note that if you have a case for you iPhone 3G, the docking connector is too fat to plug in. (The Scosche Passport adapter also looks just as fat.) Because I have a hard case, I do not, and will not take it apart every time I go somewhere in the car.
Aside from all the above issues, there is still the problem of a less than snappy user interface on the receiver. While this is likely the fault of the receiver itself, I can't help but be a little annoyed when I'm scrolling through Artists, or songs and have to wait for the title lists to populate. (Remind you, my receiver, the DEH-P980BT is still currently one of the highest end receivers that Pioneer makes.) All of my iPods are somewhat sluggish when used through this interface.
If you are a big fan of Podcasts, using this becomes even more frustrating. Why? Because:
A. You have no idea which Podcasts have already been listened to.
B. The Podcast list has multiple sub-folders which you must navigate through in order to get to the Podcast you want to play. (These sub-folders are normally hidden on your iPod to save you the navigation hassle.)
If it were possible to unlock, and use the interface on your iPod, or iPhone itself while connected, many of the problems with this setup would be solved.
Pros:
+Sound quality is wonderful. +Charges almost all iPod products made before mid-2008 (I.E. BEFORE: Fourth gen Nano, iPhone 3G, second gen Touch) +Fairly easy to install.
Cons:
-Slow interface. -Will not charge iPhone 3G, or any iPod made after mid-2008. -Dock connector is too fat to be used with most cases. -Somewhat bulky box if you need to install it in a tight spot. |

I am totally stunned that this could be sold as iPOD compatible. Nothing, absolutely nothing, works as you would intuitively think it would. Pause does not pause, forward arrow does not forward to the next track (just starts the same track over and over again), and heaven help you if you actually want to find a specific song or artist. There is no way to actually speed through a menu - you have to advance one artist at a time. This is fine if you love Aaron Neville but chances are you will be in a limb severing accident if you are trying to get to ZZ Top. I am taking this back tomorrow and demanding something that will allow me to control my iPod again from my iPod.

If you apply the last update to the Ipod Software (the one that let you play new games, and video podcast), the Navigtion Trick will no longer work. In the case of my 60Gb Ipod video, I've had to restore an old software version in order to get the navigation trick working again
