I had ordered a Belkin Tunecast II Fm Transmitter for Mp3 players but received just a Belkin Tunecast Fm Transmitter and it does not even look like the picture. I am very disappointed. It looks quit used also.
This item worked for about two weeks. It transmitted pretty well at a range of about 6 feet, but not very well at greater distances. After two weeks, the product died and never worked again. I'd recommend going with a different transmitter.
"OK with a few modifications"

Ok, I am sure there are better units out there, but not for the price. With a few modifications in the transmitter and your expectations, this unit can fullfill it's mission.
First, this unit is not meant to compete with I-pod type units that plug into the lighter for power; what do you expect for $31.00?. If you use the power adapter that comes with the Belkin unit you will have much better results.
Also, you will need to purchase a 6 foot extention wire to increase the length of the antenna. The cord provided with this unit is only about 3 inches long and is not sufficient to work properly. The cord acts as the antenna so the longer the better. These two steps will make the unit function fairly well. Without the power adapter, the unit will still work but it will have more noise and battery life is limited to about 3-4 hours of fairly clean broadcast quality. After that it goes downhill fast.
Is it worth the $$s? To me it is. I use it a work to play my Sandisk through a regular stereo and it does that well. How well it works in a car will depend on the above modification, where the unit is located in relation to your car system, and the quality of the system.
This unit will never provide noise free music, there will always be some transient noise and that noise will increase as the battery looses power. Also, you may find yourself changing frequencies in search of another clear cannel (in the car only. This does not happen in non-mobile locations like home or at work). It is a fair trade-off for a low cost, frequency agile unit.
"Be ready for a struggle to use this device"

I purchased the Belkin TuneCast II FM Transmitter device assuming it would be simple to plug it in and play it. In truth, I have not yet found the FM frequency on my auto radio that will act as host for the MP3 player and it's content. The explanation of use and user instructions leave much to be desired. The device looks good, but has not yet performed for me. I would dearly like to get my money back or exchange for a device that would work.

I bought this Belkin product. It works OK. You can improve its performance by adding a cable between the audio source (iPod, mp3 Player, etc.) and the Belkin FM Transmitter. The short (4") input cable is part of the transmitter's antenna. If you put a longer than 19" cable in between, it makes the unit VERY VERY GOOD, 75% improvement in performance. Here is one link: [...]. That's a Radio Shack Part Number 2102968. Buy a shorter one if you can find it. Otherwise, 4 stars...
