While this is not as simple as an average scale, it is not an average scale by any means. It is as it claims to be - a body composition monitor (which can also function as a simple scale if desired).
Weight alone is a poor indicator of health and fitness and, even with measuring tapes and body fat calculators I never could get as clear a sense of my fitness goals as I can with this monitor.
From using this over the past few months I've come to realize that, despite the fact that I maintain a fairly constant weight, I really need to work toward stabilizing my muscle to fat ratio.
Also, as a woman I find it tremedously helpful to see how much of my weight fluctuation is due to water weight.
This has been an invaluable tool in my efforts to refine my physique and improve my overall fitness. With the insight and motivation I gain from using this monitor I've been able to reach fitness goals that eluded me in my twenties, before our daughter was born.

| Accurate, easy to use. Very happy with this scale. Lots of bells and whistles. Make sure you need all, if not just purchase a Tanita that has BW, Body Fat %, ,and Body water %. |

Being a computer guy, I love all of the features and measures that the scale gives me. And with multiple people in the family, it is nice to have them all have a profile on the scale.
The scale's body fat calculation matched my doctor's and the kids school scales, which is good.
You need 20/20 vision and a magnifying glass to see the icons and numbers that come out. I wish they would show them in bigger type and slower, to handle the older person.
Overall, I am very happy with the scale and the measurements. |

| This scale is the best. So accurate and easy to navigate. Bought for my husband who has a fitness and weight loss business (Physiquetransformation.com) and is very scrutinizing to products like this. It not only passed his test but he actually refers customers to these tanita scales. Most people just see weight on home scales and this scale is unlike others that just show the quanity of your body..this one shows the absolute quality of it....it is worth every penny to those who are serious about weight loss and understanding where one pound may have come from (water, fat, lean muscle, viseral fat, bone density.....). |

| This scale is perfect for average people interested in weight loss or one-time athletes who want to get back on track. In one year, I went from a size 8 to a size 6. And then I bought the TANITA Silvertone Ironman. In the four months after that, I went from a size 6 to a size 2 and just bought my first size 0 dress. I work out at the gym 2-3 times a week doing heavy cardio and light weights. In the past, I would gain fat and lose muscle and never know it. Thanks to the TANITA, I've been able to take a wholistic approach to weight loss, measuring what's "underneath" the weight: body fat percentage, muscle mass, etc. Most importantly, it brought out the self-competitor in me as I kick up my work out to beat my numbers each day. My favorite feature is the physique rating, which tells you what kind of body you have (obese, average, athlete, super athlete). There are nine catagories and hence gives you something to work toward. I would recommend this scale to anyone! |

This is an awesome scale and can't believe how many functions it offers. I especially like the way the scale toggles through the multi settings as the varrious buttons light up, making it very easy to identify what setting you are reading. Every one who comes over to my house wants to try it out. I definitely recommend the scale to anyone who is concerned or serious about taking an active approach to becoming healthier and fit.
