"Great vacuum"

This is a powerful, small great cordless handheld vacuum. I have another that I purchased a few years ago and it finally went up (nicad battery). I didn't realize how much I would miss it. The only issue with this unit is that the battery replacement is almost as much as a new vacuum, so you're better off just buying a new one like I did. Seems a bit wasteful that the company makes the batteries that expensive. My first vac is still in great shape, but it needs a battery. The company should update and go with lithium-ion.
"Better than the other hand vac"

I bought the Black & Decker 18 volt cordless hand vac (Black & Decker PHV1800CB 18-Volt Pivoting-Nose Cordless Energy-Star Handheld Vacuum Cleaner) about a year before I bought this one. The B&D was so LOUD I had to use ear plugs or be driven mad! (Esp. on the higher speed)
Needed another for upstairs, so I bought this Shark. It's GREAT! I was concerned when I got it that the instructions said "don't leave plugged in" because I always had cordless vacs that were charged all the time. It has turned out not to be a problem--the charge lasts a long time (for a cordless vac).
From my experience, this Vac is much quieter than the B&D and picks up every bit as much...if not more...than the supposedly more powerful B&D. I use the brush attachment almost every time and it's great for quick pick ups and vacuuming the stairs. I find myself bringing it downstairs so I can use it rather than the B&D. Highly recommend!

We bought two of these handheld vacs based on the reviews. They have been the best we have ever owned. Great for spot cleaning on the floor, cleaning lint filter, even picks up little pebbles on the patio outside. The inside filters are easy to clean and ours recharge quickly.
I loved the shark when I first got it. The motorized brush went first, after about 2 months, and then at month 3 or 4 the suction went soft. It would work at full power for about 1 minute, and then slowly peter out. I probably should have contacted the manufacturer, but I didn't. I got a lemon.
"5 Stars so far"

I just opened this little Shark and my first test was our stairs. We have 3 large dogs and 5 cats and I was amazed at how well it cleaned the stair carpet. I agree with a couple of reviews about the end of the roller brush being a little thick for the crevices on the stair, but I learned a trick from my previous hand vac. Get a wire pet brush from your local dollar store and quickly scrub the crevice at the base of each step. Use the vac to suck the hair off the brush and finish the step, it only takes a second and works great. I did our stairs in about 10 minutes where normally it too around 20 ore more. Ny only previous experience is with my Black&Decker 19.5 volt, which will suck paint of the wall, but without any type of agitator is useless for pet hair on carpet or fabric.
Another tip is to buy a cheap little waste basket to keep handy by the stairs or carry a grocery bag with you while you vacuum. Like all small hand vacs the bust bin is on the small side.

I bought this Shark product after reading a few reviews. I realized when I bought it that some people had some worries about the battery life. So far I have only used a few times. It is doing the job. You just need to realize that this does not replace a vacuum cleaner & that you should have an expectation that you'll need to recharge it often.
