"Works great, nothing else like it, but poorly constructed" | 2009-11-05 |

This is a great little remote. I love that it's RF, so it has a long range. I wish Griffin hadn't discontinued it, because there's really nothing else that's small, RF and able to control so many things.
The big problem with it is that it's construction is utter crap (particularly the USB dongle). I'm on my second now and I'm handling it verrry carefully.
By the way, if you do a search for "Multimedia Keyboard plug-in for Griffin AirClick," you'll find exactly that: A plug in that adds support for multimedia keyboard controls. To me, it's what makes this device really useful. |

"Handy for lazy music changing" | 2009-07-30 |

| I used this little remote often in college because I frequently played music on my PC computer through iTunes. Although many times I was sitting at my computer, I also sat on my bed studying or walked around the apartment while leaving my music going. I loved this remote because the signal goes through walls and doesn't need a direct line of sight to function. I could be getting ready to go out with my friends in the bathroom and change the songs or pump up the volume depending on our mood. The clip feature is handy for this. I loved the freedom of changing music from my bed the most. Once you get settled into a comfy spot studying, it's no fun to have to get up to change an obnoxious song (I often shuffle my entire music library). I used this a few times with Windows Media Player as well for movies and it worked fine. I only tried PowerPoint once or twice but I seem to remember it didn't work as smoothly. It required a lot more tweaking and patience. Recently, my remote stopped working but I have a hunch it is due to the battery being dead. I've had it for over 4 years now. I just haven't gotten around to changing the battery yet. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this product. |

"SO GLAD I FOUND THIS!" | 2009-04-28 |

I have a Mac Pro with 1700 CD's ripped at full resolution in it, using ITunes and the Mac's digital optical toslink straight into my pre-amp. I always wanted a remote for this system. Now I have it, what more could you ask for? I would rather have a bluetooth device and a bigger remote, but this works pretty well, sure well enough for a five star rating. This controls my favorite toy, what a wonderful thing to have. I can change the music from out on my deck, about 70 feet away...life is good. At this price it's a no-brainer. I even saw one later for [...] bucks, so I bought another. You can even pair them! One upstairs and one down. I think it's neat. Fear not, buy one. |

"Really does the job" | 2009-03-25 |

I bought this remote for an unbeatable 6$. It's not a full multimedia remote, but it does the job. Play, pause, FF, REW, volume up and down. Plus, it works with Keynote and PowerPoint (use the updated software from Griffin website, not the one included on the CD!!!). You can also manually program the remote to work with any software. The remote itself feel very flimsy and I suspect it won't survive me sitting on it by mistake. Hopefully I can afford another 6$ if that ever happens. |

"Suffers from poor software engineering" | 2009-02-02 |

The AirClick is a nifty little piece of hardware that suffers from very poor software engineering. While the driver/app has been updated to work more smoothly with popular products like iTunes, PowerPoint, and WinAmp, it's simply underpowered for a piece of hardware with this kind of potential.
There is no support for app customization or custom apps. There's no API to interface your own apps, and it relies on .Net for nothing more than alpha fading a dialog window. The use of .Net forces the driver to use 20mb to 40mb of RAM. This is unacceptable if you're on a netbook with 512mb. Also, if you're one of the millions of Windows users who choose not to install Microsoft's bulky and resource demanding .Net framework, you're essentially locked out of this product. Developers have no options to build add-ons to this app so that they can cliam "AirClick compatibility" in their software, which is a shame.
On the hardware end, I was generally pleased with the device except for its radio range sensitivity. Any location with even the smallest amount of radio interference results in a dramatic loss of range in the unit. Just make sure you turn your cell phone off when you're around this thing. |
