| The Franklyn spelling ace is really nice. It's much bigger than the others. I purchased it for my Father-in -Law because his was too small & he had a hard time reading it. This one has a big read-out that you can see. The buttons are much bigger also. I liked the one I got him so much that I bought one myself. At first the buttons can be a little confusing. I've had to re-set mine 3 times. Now that I know what I'm doing it works great!! The one problem I see is that there is an = sign on the enter key & if you push that when you are looking up a word, it blanks out. You have to push it on the left side of the enter, not on the whole bar because it will go blank & it will have to be re-set. What I also really like is after you find the correct spelling it will tell you what the word means. It truly is a great little spell checker!! |

| I bought this item for playing scrabble and it is very good for that, but it is hard to get it out of game mode. The instructions are not clear either. I am happy with it though. It may be a user problem on my end. |

| I ordered a model SA-206 Spelling Ace and received an SA-209. I called to try to get the mixup corrected and was told that I would have to take care of it on line. I went to the online return system and half-way through it decided that it wasn't worth the trouble and logged off. The system took my "half-way" efforts and made a duplicate shipment (corrected?). Yes, I got another SA-209. I called again and was told that I would receive an email on the next day with details concerning availability and how to correct the now-duplicated wrong order. I never heard from anyone. I decided to keep both units and will certainly be charged for both; but now I have two more gifts for under the Christmas tree. |

I purchased four of these spellers for my fifth grade classroom, I had two older models of the Franklin spelling ace and thought I would give this new version a whirl.
Good Points:
They are small and fit on the top of a student's desk without interfering with the writing space.
The batteries are behind a cover that screws shut - read: no flying batteries during our writing sessions.
The thesaurus is terrific.
Bad Points:
The cover is hard to open and is another step in getting to the tool.
The Spelling Ace is not intuitive - you must read the directions closely in order to have the speller work properly. Reading directions, remembering directions and following directions are not skills that most adults have mastered let alone fifth graders.
This last bad point is my fault and one that I had not thought about before purchasing...I wish that I had purchased one with audio - my students who use these need that sound/letter correlation in order to remember how to spell the word they are looking up (and recognize the word when they see it).

| I had gotten this speller for my Birthday and I love it! I like the games, there really fun! My favorite game is the hangman and jumble! It's great beacuse it features a theasarus ( so you don't always have the same words), Games (so you never get bored!), List ( make your own personal word list!)and much much More! | I purchased this for my husband to use at work. He loves it! Best of all, my husband spells phoneticly and this speller finds the word he needs. He now carries his speller with him at all times. Another great feature is the keyboard and readout are large enough for him to see without his glasses. I would recommend this speller to anyone who could use a great speller. |
