| I have 5 people who have to eat breakfast on the run in the morning. So I was looking for a good quality 4-slice toaster to stand up to all the bagels and toaster strudels my family loves. This Cuisinart CPT-140BK is perfect. The settings are accurate, and the special bagel button is a nice feature that makes them crunchy on the outside and still soft on the inside! |

"Terrible Toaster" | 2008-03-09 |

| I was an idiot... I refused to believe (even after reading all these reviews) that Cuisinart would produce such a terrible product. BUT, it is indeed true. The toaster scorches above setting 2 (I guess if you want to eat ashes you can notch it up to 9), and doesn't toast evenly. Just like everyone else says, it cooks only one side! --even though all the elements are working! Unbelievable. Avoid this terrible toaster at all costs. |

If I could give this toaster a lower rating, I would. I was looking for a solid black toaster with a nice look because we use our toaster a lot and I wanted to keep in out on the counter of my kitchen. I liked the looks of this toaster so much that I went ahead and purchase it, even though I read the negative reviews.
When I pulled it out of the box, I was thrilled with the looks of it. Very clean line and a nice solid black. But that's the only thing it has going for it.
It took less than a week for me to regret ignoring the reviews. This toaster has got to be one of the worst I've had in 20+ years. Either it makes warm bread or black shingles - Nothing in between. In a little over a week it started burning every piece of bread we put in it - even set at the absolute lowest setting.
Because I hate to throw things away, so ended up donating it, but am feeling a little bit guilty, because I hate to think of someone ruining good (and expensive!) bread by using this thing.

Cuisinart CPT-140BK Electronic Cool Touch 4-Slice Toaster, Black
I purchased this toaster back in August of this year('07) from Amazon, com as Remanufactured unit for $17.00 (good bargin), and it is one of the best toatsers I have ever used,it does a excellent job of toasting particuarly for bagels, it does take some getting used to and experementing to find the right setting for the bagels or bread you are using as different breads and bagels require different settings a swith any toaster you have to find the setting that works for your taste.
I find that 4-4.5 works for most bagels wheather they are from a Donut/Bagel Shop such as Dunkin Dounuts or from the Super Market such as Tomases or Peperigdge Farm this toaster does an excellent job of toasting them and is well worth the price paid for it reduced or regular price.
I like the fact that it has such a high lift for removing your toast, bagels or english muffins by moving the toasting lever all the way up it lifts theitem high enough to make it easy to remove it, and one touch buttons for different features is very good and the fact that it has to be plugged in in order for it the carridge to stay down and locked is a good saftey feature on any toaster.
Over all it is well worht the money and an excellent value, if want an excellent toastet than I recomend this one you will like it I am sure. |

"Toasts unevenly, doesn't have a REAL bagel setting" | 2007-08-24 |

| My bread gets dark on one side and not the other. I tried the bagel setting today and read the manual in disbelief - "Bagel" just toasts longer! It doesn't toast one side like you would want for bagels with seeds on the outside. My old toaster had a real bagel setting - I think I'm getting rid of this crappy Cuisinart toaster. |

"Very disappointed" | 2007-02-20 |

| This is the first review I've ever written, but I was so amazed at how badly this toaster worked that I just had to share. I bought the toaster today at Macy's in southwest Denver for about $50. I got it home, plugged it in, and was very happy with the way it looked. Then, I actually tried toasting some bread. The outermost slice was properly toasted on both sides, with only a few faint lighter markings from the retaining strips. However, the inside slice was well-toasted on one side, and lightly toasted on the other. I tried it again with my remaining few slices of bread, same results. Just to be obsessive, I drove to the local Safeway and bought an $.89 loaf of white bread, returned home, and fired up the toaster. The light on one side, dark on the other was repeated time and again, under different settings. This was very disappointing, and the toaster is going back next Saturday. I just ordered a Krups FEM4w through Amazon. Hopefully, I'll have better results. By the way, the news wasn't all bad. The birds are happy with the 14 slices of bread I tossed out. I guess that they are not as picky as I am. |
