"A classic worth experiencing"

I have purchased and played this game on the Xbox 360 and PC platforms. I have only played the single player mode. I really feel the game has a compelling storyline and I enjoyed playing through the Russian, British and American campaigns. You really feel an appreciation for the heroes that battled through that World War. It was so interesting that I felt compelled to research some of the battlefields and war stories and learn more about them. As you immerse yourself into the game objectives, you may find that it's more than just a game. It's a story worth experiencing.
The game starts with the Russian battles. It can be difficult, and most of my friends never finish because they just can't seem to defeat the Nazi tanks or snipers. The game requires you to be aggressive or more courageous at times to lead your men through these tough spots. It took me some time to figure this out with the tanks. Don't give up though, because the British and American campaigns come later and you don't want to miss that experience. Other times you may find that less aggression and using cover will keep you from getting slaughtered. This is not a run and gun game, you need to use different tactics to achieve objectives. It's very rewarding when you're able to outmaneuver a very smart, difficult enemy. The British campaigns have a lot of variety. You also get to drive tanks and fight the enemy in many varied environments. The American campaigns are very special because they make you feel what the soldier must have felt when they made their assault on the Nazi front in France. It's an incredible experience waiting for you!
The game is a few years old but still holds up quite well especially considering the new low pricing. You can't go wrong so buy it and have fun. You can rent it but you'll want to spend more quality time with it. I like to get my money's worth out of games so I don't use the run-and-gun style of game playing. I have replayed it many times using different tactics. This is a great game.
"Best WWII Game!"

Call of Duty 2 has got to be the best World War II Game that I have played. I played both Call of Duty 2 and 3, but thought that Call of Duty 2 was better. You have a lot of cool battlefields and great grphics, totally awesome weapons, and lots of allies! I like to play as the americans the most, because well, I'm American! If you like WWII Games this is the game for you! Do not get Call of Duty 3!
If 2 1/2 stars was an option that would be my rating. I'm a World War 2 buff so I enjoyed the realism and historical basis of this game but overall it's just a basic, decent game to get your shooter fix. It's an older game yet I was still impressed with the graphics and gameplay. My main complaint is that it gets boring. It lacks variety and it didn't grab my interest enough to make me want to play it for very long stretches of time. I was rarely itching to play it the way I've been with other shooters. Of course part of the problem is that I'm used to playing such greats as Bioshock, Halo 3, Gears of War, and COD4. Call of Duty 2 certainly isn't as good as COD4 but I only paid $10 for a brand new copy of this game and at that price or less it's probably worth the money.
"Definately worth having"

Especially at the price these have been going for lately, this game is worth having. Graphics are good, physics and A.I. are good as well. The weapons are probably what impressed me the most. When you fire that last shot out of an American M1 Garand and hear that bandolere "ting" hit the ground, that's priceless. It's that kind of attention to detail that realy sets games like this apart from the others. It's all in the polish. It's very refreshing to play a FPS that's not just slapped together and released as soon as it's able to boot in the console. This one obviously has some serious man hours behind it. And the historical footage from the Military Channel is a nice touch too. When playing through the single player campaign you go through several different assaults from different angles in the war. When I reached the american 'D-Day' assault in Normandy I got goosebumps. I know that what I experience while playing is nothing like what those men went through, but it's certainly intense.
