"True HD Outside of a HDMI Cable" | 2008-09-10 |

If you want HD quality video out of your Xbox, but it's not an Elite, than you want these cables. For $40, this includes everything you need to take your standard Xbox to the next level of video quality. And I don't know if it's just my HDTV or cables or what, but for whatever reason, the standard cables that come with an Xbox do not produce anything that looks better than normal component quality, even using the HD plugs and flipping the switch on the AV cable, so this is what you ACTUALLY want.
I bought these when I lived in a dorm, and we shared a TV, so I didn't get to play when I wanted to. These worked because I took my then CRT monitor, and hooked the Xbox into that with these cables (contrary to what I thought, these cables come with a female-female adapter connector in order to connect the male cable of a CRT monitor to the male cable of the Xbox, so don't worry about that). The quality of the video is amazing. You don't know what you're missing using component cables until you hook up using a VGA cable connector (what these are); the difference is mind blowing. All that text you can't read on a normal TV, all that text that's too small, or those far-off targets in shooters, or that tiny red spot in Halo 3 that appears in your reticle to let you know of a headshot, well with these cables, and ESPECIALLY with an HD TV, you can now see those things with absolute clarity.
Further, these cables come with a speaker jack adapter, so that you can either plug the two audio cables into your TV, or plug them into your computer and use your computer speakers (by using the microphone input jack), which, in my case, are MUCH better than my TV's speakers.
So, in the end, these are what you want as an easy, very convenient way of ramping up your gaming experience without shelling out $400 for an Elite (or actually, buying an Elite and a new HD TV). No complaints whatsoever. |

I am moving into a dorm soon, and as with most dorms, space is a HUGE issue. I wanted to bring my XBOX 360 but didn't want to bring an additional TV that would have taken up a lot of space, and still would have been too small to enjoy the superb graphics that many of the games have to offer.
I noticed that the VGA cord was for sale, so I bought it to be able to use my computer monitor as a screen. All I have to say is WOW. Best thirty something dollars I have ever spent! Full HD support, great color, and extremely convenient too.
If you don't own an HDTV, get one of these cords and attach it to any computer monitor. The difference in quality will amaze you.
Note: Some earlier review have stated that the colors can be washed out or not as good as component. That was fixed by an update, so it shouldn't be an issue now! |

| The VGA cable is nice for people who dont own a tv (or a good one) and own a computer. Halo 3 and GTA 4 look awesome on my Optiquest moniter. The sound is hooked to the line in on my soundcard in the computer which gives clear digital audio that will give you the feeling that you are actually in the game you are playing. I believe this product is the best of its kind especially since it was made by microsoft. |

| These cables are so much better than the composite cables when it comes to LCD T.V's and LCD Monitors..i hooked it up to my friends 20' Magnavox LCD and my I-Inc 19' LCD monitor..it looks slightly better than the composite cables and reduces screen lag by a huge load..my 19 inch monitor has an 8ms response time which you can notice when playing games especially FPS games(Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, etc...)with the VGA Cables i notice no delay..i definitely recommend these to anyone who own and LCD T.V. or a computer monitor |

I received this cable today and immediately hooked it up.
First just to test it I hooked it straight to my 22" Sceptre monitor. It worked great.
I wanted to be able to switch back and forth to my XBox and my PC so I figured I would try it with an IOGear KVM switch I had laying around. Sure enough it worked.
The audio hook ups are convenient. I was able to also hook the audio to the KVM switch so I can use my PC's surround speakers for the XBox.
Over all it's a great product. It did just what I wanted with no complications or headaches. I know I will stick to genuine Microsoft products for all my XBox accessories. |

"Great option - buy Microsoft, not generic" | 2008-07-02 |

This is an excellent product, works very well with my Samsung 226BW 22" LCD monitor.
Do not buy a generic cable from another manufacturer. The generic cables are cheaper partly because the cables they use are cheaper. This can lead to an effect sometimes called "ghosting" where "ghosts" of images appear next to the true image. I had a generic cable and could see very easily on the text that there were three or four shadows of the text. The Microsoft VGA cable cleared the ghosts up entirely, leaving me with a wonderfully clear image.
The quality from the cable is great. However, until Microsoft releases an update that has resolutions like 1680x1050 (typical 22" widescreen monitor resolution), you will have to deal with either slight stretching of the image or a few pixels being cut off. Or, if your monitor has 1-to-1 pixel mapping, you will have small black bars on the edges of the screen. To me, the stretching is barely noticeable (I also don't have an HDTV with which to compare). You can change the resolutions so that it's very close; but it is an important point to consider.
PROS: Use with monitor; high quality; analog and digital audio CONS: No resolutions that support 16:10 monitors; stretching or pixel loss if your monitor does not support 1-to-1 pixel mapping
Microsoft has done gamers with limited space and budgets a great favor. The cable and image are top-notch; the only reason I take away one star is because of the lack of perfectly compatible resolutions |

| This cable is a great solution if you are getting annoyed with pixelation on Non-HDTV's. It works great with my 19" Acer because it has dual inputs, so my computer is hooked to one and the 360 in the other and easily switched between the two using the menu. Picture looks great as long as you set the settings on the 360 correctly. NO washing out problems. |

These cables can upscale/upconvert SD-DVD's (normal DVD's) to 1080p!! They are great for TV's that work as a monitor as well. I used to have to switch the slot taken up by the 360 component cables on my TV with the Wii component cables, but now, because I have the VGA cables, which take up a different slot, I can now play Wii and 360 without switching the slot!
Pros: -Amazing graphical difference and smoothness factor when compared to component or composite cables. -Upconverting/Upscaling SD-DVD's to 1080p is possible with these cables. -The cables' physical quality is outstanding (very, very thick outer protection and very durable). -Item comes with all necessary items: Cables, and especially the adaptors.
Cons: -NONE!!! |
