"A good toy" | 2008-02-19 |

My son got this for Christmas when he was 2. He really enjoys it. His favorite thing is to record himself and then listen to it.
Overall, I think this is a pretty good toy, but I do have to say that I think its a little hard to see the screen.
All in all, I would recommend this toy to any toddler who loves music! |

All three of my daughters(1,3,5) love this! The batteries don't last as long as I would like-though they have been playing nonstop with it for over a year now.I think I have to change the batteries every other week. They really enjoy singing along. Even my older boys(7,11,13) want to have a chance to say something into the microphone!lol We have a lot of the extra songs and they make a good gift for them in their Easter basket or other little holiday. Instead of a toy they wont use. Their faces light up when I get them a new disk! I hope this helps you! |

"My nephew can't live without this now..." | 2007-09-14 |

I first bought this for my neice when she was 19 months. She liked the toy along with her other toys. She kind of grew out of it around 3. That coincided with my nephew taking over the toy (he's 2 years younger than her). He absolutely loves the toy and can't live without it. He calls it "Geeko". His first one broke after a year of heavy use. I bought him a second one. He's managed to break that too. However, he refuses to give give up either of his broken "Geeko"s. So I'm buying him a third Geeko :) I think he will still refuse to give up his broken "Geeko"s.
So in summary - it's an amazing toy. Just a bit more stress testing for male kids would be good :) |

"Another toy my son likes better than I thought he would" | 2007-06-18 |

| I am really glad I have learned to read the reviews on toys. So often I see a toy at a store and think my 18 month old son will love it and he doesn't. And I also find myself reading good reviews on toys that only look ok to me - and when I buy them my son loves them. It isn't that this toy is the greatest toy I have ever seen, but my son plays with it every day for quite a while. I had read reviews about problems with it breaking - but my son has thrown it to the floor, jumped on it, etc. with no apparent damage so far (although i do try to stop him when I see him abusing it!) For me, a mom with several things on her plate, I think it was well worth the money. I love being able to get some things done in the same room with him as he plays with this toy. |

"Durable and Fun" | 2007-05-22 |

| My daughter received this for Christmas 2005 and has played with it ever since. This has been dropped, stepped on, you name it, and still works just as well as it ever did. The screen light could stand to be a little bit brighter though. |

"Decent toy, but not thrilled with it" | 2007-04-21 |

| When I first saw this in the store, I thought it would be a fun way for my almost 3 year old to play and learn at the same time. But I have to say this toy has received luke warm reception in my house. The main problem is that it is not well lit so its hard to see the pictures behind the screen. The touch screen is nice but after you've touched various objects, it gets smudged (obviously). And this makes it even harder to see what is going on! My son plays with it only to hear the various songs and to see the pages zip by as he presses on the two arrows and then looses interest. We've tried to show him how he can use the touch screen, but its not bright enough for him to actually see what we are going on about... |

"Screen is too dark!!!!!" | 2007-04-16 |

| We just purchased this for our two-year-old's birthday. The concept of the toy is neat, but the screen is too dark to really make out anything. It has circles of lights in the base that go on and off, depending on what screen is playing & what places are being touched, however, this doesn't totally illuminate the picture, which makes it hard to answer questions because you can't see the pictures clearly. Fisher Price needs to design this better. |

"Great for a 2 year old!" | 2006-12-29 |

| My parents gave this to our son for Christmas and he adores it, the songs are catchy and easy to learn. My son is already singing along. The screen is a little dark but my son doesn't mind! The cartridges require an adult to change them and this has lead to some frustration. So far our microphone works well and our son loves to record and listen to himself. Our system has been dropped a couple of times and has even been carried around by the microphone without a problem. The cartridges are a little pricey so we only have 1 extra one right now. I would definitely recommend this. |

"My son's favorite toy!" | 2006-12-26 |

My 20-month-old son has a lot of toys, but this one he has gone back to several times throughout the day and plays with it for pretty long stretches, around 30 minutes each time which is very long for him! His favorite so far is Blue's Room Singing Playdate. He loves the Doodleboard and Roarysaurus pages. He figured out how to work everything within 15 minutes.
We took it to my parents' house so he would have something to play with while we were there and everyone was curious about it. Soon my 6-year-old nephew and 8-year-old niece were huddled up with my son in front of the fireplace and they all played with it together for a long time. Then my brother's oldest daughter, who is 12, just had to see what the big deal was and soon she was playing, too! Even the adults had to give it a try. It's very entertaining to everyone, and the younger kids were really engaged by it, especially my son.
The screen is dark but as the lights light up under parts of the page, you can see pretty clearly. I think they could have designed it a bit better, but my son nor I have any trouble seeing the correct areas to push. Each cartridge has so many learning opportunities and great songs, we plan to buy them all, even the older ones for the original player.
I am very impressed with the sensitivity of the screen. It seems to be just perfect, and unlike another reviewer, we haven't had any trouble with it not giving us the correct response when pushing a certain picture. My son's touch is enough to make it work but if you accidentally brush your fingers across it while carrying or whatever it won't start singing out of the blue.
As far as durability goes, my son is handling this toy with great care because he adores it so much, but it seems very sturdy and the carrying handle is nice. It is a bit heavy for him to carry himself yet and it's larger than I thought it would be, but it's the perfect size for him to set on the floor in front of him and play. The back of the unit is angled in such a way so that if the toy is placed on the floor or your child's lap, it is at a better position for seeing the screen.
Lastly, the sound. It is a bit loud, even on the lower setting, but it's not enough to be annoying or for me to worry that it's damaging his ears. It's always noisy in our busy house anyway, so the extra volume helps though I would have preferred a slightly lower setting as well for quiet times.
All in all I think it's a fantastic toy and a great learning tool. The songs are catchy and memorable and easily help to remember the lesson being taught. It's great for entertainment and education at the same time. Highly recommended!
Oh, and please note the player pictured here is not the Plus system, it's the original. The Plus player is silver in color and more square shaped than the one pictured. We love the play and record microphone and it's the same price as the original player, so definitely go for the Plus version if you can. |
