The Remington Microscreen rechargeable razor is a good product. It gives a close shave if you insure that you've covered all areas thoroughly. br /br /It does leave some longer sthat lay down against the face which you have to go back and cut with the trimmer. Following a 24 hour recharge the battery stays charged for about a week before needing to be recharged.br /br /Overall, I'd say that Remington Microscreen 500 is an 8 out of 10 when compared to a blade. It's quick and easy.

I have had Remington razors before and have generally felt them to be superior to the Norelco brand. This particularly model seems equivalent to a Norelco.br /br /The shaver is loud which is really no big deal.br /br /It also leaves a lot of beard and for me requires touch up with a blade. Also I generally have to shave a long time with it each day.br /br /The problem could be my technique or some other error on my part. However, I not impressed with this razor.

I purchase this item base on Consumer Reports recommendation and price. As stated in the report, the shaver is a little noisy but it does give a very nice close shave. I used it a few times going to work because I was running late in the morning, very convenient. I would recommend this product.

"Great shaver, better than my last Remington Microscreen" | 2008-10-01 |

When my 6-year old Remington MS3-3000 foil shaver needed replacement, I looked long and hard at what to buy. Strongly considered a rotary shaver but after consulting Consumers Reports - decided to stay with a foil shaver. While the MS2-390 has 'only' two foils instead of three and has no battery fuel gauge I took a chance on this shaver. GREAT choice. It shaves better than the MS3-3000 did new, providing 20 days of shaving on its first charge. An important feature to me is the ability to leave it plugged in while charging without worrying about over-charging and on that score, the unit actually has an undocumented feature - the green charging light blinks when charging is complete so you don't have to guess at that. Neither the Remington website, or their owner's manual admit to this feature but it is definitely there. After a month now, I am very happy with this purchase. The bonus? Six years after my first Remington Microscreen, this replacement was half the price of what I paid in 2002.

"Happily it lives up to the reviews" | 2008-10-01 |

I had a DA-307 for about 7 years that I was relatively happy with when it finally died and I was not able to replace the internal batteries. So searching for a replacement I considered the rotary head style, but I remember having one before the 307 and preferred the foil type. The 280 model was easy to find in the stores, but oddly the 390 was nowhere to be found. And after the long workable life of my 307 I figured I had better go with the model with the markedly better reviews.br /br /I love it. =) It does a great job. As far as I can tell it keeps a charge for a long time. Out of the box it had a low charge and was functional, but I charged it overnight and then proceeded to use it for a full week without charging it up. At the end of the week, its low power light still had not lit up, but I figured that was long enough for a test. So I am pleased with the battery lifebr /br /The razor itself shaves nicely close - closer than the 307 ever did. The razor is on the loud side, but actually that helps wake me up in the morning.br /br /The only weak area I find really isnt even weak - just different. The pop-up trimmer is nicely wide and it cuts cleanly, but the mechanism by which the trimmer raises itself doesnt seem sturdy. However it has worked just fine. Also the trimmer blade can be a little tough on sensitive areas - lets leave it at that.br /br /So, all-in-all I am very pleased with this razor on both function and battery life.

I'm new to electric shaving so I don't any comparisons to other products. I am however very happy with my MS2-39 Microscreen 500. Except for a couple of areas on my neck, it provides a close shave. I'm also happy with the simplicity of use and the long battery life before it has to be recharged.

Given a high rating in Consumer Reports, this shaver lives up to its review. I have used various electric shavers for 20 years or more, and this one shaves faster and closer than any I've used. It won't cut up your face and it will save time. It recharges in an hour and can be rinsed with water.br /It is noisy and the protractable trimmer is awkward, and if these matters are important to you, then you might look elsewhere.br /But if a fast, close shave is what you're looking for, then you'll get a winner.

My 12 year old Norelco rotary was due for new heads (tho its still shaved pretty well). I decided to give the Remington MS 500 a try as it did well in Consumer Reports and I thought the trimmer might work better than the Norelco's. The Remington trimmer is better for sideburns, but I had to use the trimmer for areas with difficult hairs on my face too --which was too irritating. So now I shave with the Norelco and trim with the new Remington.
