"Handy player for a traveling yoga teacher" | 2008-09-01 |

I have now purchased two of this item--one for me, two years ago, and one for my father-in-law just recently. I like it enough for me that I bought it for him.
I use this player to play my music when I travel around to various locations to teach yoga. I teach a type of yoga that uses loud, upbeat music (not soft woo-woo music), so I want a player that can deliver good sound at a good volume in locations that can range in size from conference rooms to gymnasiums. This player does the trick.
The folding legs are simple. The case is sturdy. As others have noted, I wish there were a sleeve on the case for the power cord (just in case). You must separately bring the cord along if you wish power back-up in case of a partial charge. I have not yet had problems with decreased charge due to slow battery failure, but I usually only use the unit one hour at a time.
I bought my first unit at Costco, which still carries the product for less than all the websites I recently visited. Good luck, and enjoy your new player! |

I wanted people to be aware of the problems I faced with the set, so quickly and succinctly, here you go:
These speakers are amazing. They aren't enough to fill a large room with rockin' bass, but that same room was more-than-adequately serenaded to sleep on more than one night. What I also like about them is that the fidelity is good even on low volume, presupposing you have good quality mp3s.
They are small, light, and compact, easily fitting into a carry-on suitcase, and run off batteries, as it has been noted previously.
My problems begin there: the battery is internal and the user is unable to change them out. This wouldn't be a problem if the set performed as expected. But I've heard from other users that sets have had to be returned due to under-performing battery packs. Mine are temperamental. Sometimes I'll make it through a full 6-hour shift on the batteries and other times they'll conk out after 2 hours (after indicator light shows full charge). My co-worker has the same set and has zero problems with the battery pack.
The second problem is the remote, which stopped working after about 6 months, several months too late to return the system.
The last issue I have is the sensitivity of the volume buttons. It's a nitpicky issue, I realize, but as a massage therapist, it's nice to just be able to easily change the volume up or down without having to worry about accidentally blasting your client if you press too hard, or dropping it down too low for the same reason. The average user will not have to worry about this.
All in all, I do like this system quite a lot, but be aware of the possible malfunctions so that you can return it in time should you note them with yours. |

| It sounds like an expensive system and looks great. Other IPOD portable speakers I considered buying sounded tinny and looked and felt like cheap light plastic. Not so with this speaker system. The quality is a real nice surprise that I can enjoy anywhere, everyday. |

| I was concerned when I bought this that it wouldn't sound as good as it does when it plays out of my car speakers or that it would sound grainy or something. It plays loud and clear, there's even a bass boost kind of button that amplifies rock/rap etc. type music. I love having a remote, it docks and charges all possible kinds of iPods so my whole family can use it. I didn't realize it until I did it by accident, but the system holds a charge and can play the iPod even when not plugged into the wall (aka its portable!!). I love it and would recommend it to anyone!! |

| I bought these speakers for Mothers day and they are great. Just don't crank your equalizer up in the bass range and they work fine......so nice not to have to fuss with batteries or extention cords. |

My friend has these speakers in black and I loved them, but I did look at other IPOD speakers in the same price range. Of all the ones I looked at, these are by far the BEST. I recommend these speaker highly!!!

| Received this as a gift. I'd been using it for a few months and was amazed by the sound, but last weekend was the kicker - we had my daughter's college grad party and I didn't think it would be powerful enough for outdoor use. But it was loud and clear and it was the only music source we used all day and night. The portability is a great feature too - I take it everywhere. Highly recommend it. |

If I had paid the full $150 for this dock, I'd be extremely disappointed. At $50 it's not bad.
Yes it's sleek, compact, portable, and easy to use. And it keeps the iPod charged. But it doesn't have what I call big sound. It sounds better than a portable AM radio but it's not what I expected.
My expectations were based mostly on other reviews and the current state of audio technology. I'm not an audiophile, but I expected this unit to sound at least as good as the 2" speakers that came with my 5 year old iMac. It's not even close.
It's not Logitech's fault that the mm50 falls short of my expectations. It is what it is. What I can tell you is there's no way I'm spending $2-300 for a dock from Bose. Instead, I run the iPod through my wife's old Sony boombox with a cassette adaptor and get big sound for cheap. |

I took time to read several reviews for this product and was expecting a much better quality speaker system. THESE DO NOT SOUND AS GOOD OR EVEN CLOSE TO BOSE! They sound about a good as one would expect for this size of an unit. You can only adujst the volume level to a certain point, so that means if you can't hear the song that well and you are at max volume, too bad, it won't go any higher! That's with adjusting the volume on the ipod to max as well while docked to this system. I noticed that Rock songs get distorted and sound like they might blow out the speaker system even at low volume. (I did change the ipod EQ to small speaker as well as all the other options to try and fix this problem.)I snagged these speakers for 55.00 dollars, thank goodness or I would have been very upset had I paid 149.00. (I orderd these through an amazon partner store, but they have a restocking fee and I'd have to pay the shipping back. Not gonna do that.) So I'll hang on to these speakers and use them for camping or out on the deck. I have to agree with another poster regarding this product, they do sound better if you are in another room if the song playing is one that produces a good sound level, now if only the remote could be used through walls, wouldn't that be great? I will give these speakers 3 stars, as I do think that they are probably pretty good if you are looking for a system that is portable and has a decent sound to them. However I would not pay more than the 55.00 for them.
Cheers!
