| I own a leapster recharging system which I purchased at my local Wal Mart for $35.00 BRAND NEW!!! The system also comes with an ac adapter which your child can plug in and play. You then hook the ac adapter to the charging dock and let the leapster charge. It is that easy. Don't buy from these overpriced dealers unless it is absolutely a must. Check your local stores (WalMart, Toys R Us)first. |

| I am so glad I purchased the charger - it was well worth the $$! Having the charger means I don't have to get the screwdriver, take the batteries out, charge them, get the screwdriver again and put them back. I like the fact that my 5 year old can click this right onto the charger by himself and take if off by himself. Or I can click it on to the cradle at night when we go to bed and it's ready to go in the morning. It's very easy! And I have not yet had a problem with him wanting to play with the system and it not being charged, and he plays it almost daily. |

| Well, thank goodness for recharger systems. I have two boys who each have their own leapster...we were going through AA batteries like crazy, causing some tears in the car. We purchased these battery packs - they stay charged a long time and they can also play the games on the charger. They are simple enough for the boys to take the games on and off the charger. Worth the money. |

I give this 5 stars because:
1. we always know where the L-max is ~on the recharging dock!! before we got this recharging system the kids would never put the leapster away =(
2. the kids can put it on the dock themselves where as they cannot change the batteries themselves.
3. Never worry about the batteries going dead, this charge lasts all day.
We tried using rechargeable batteries and it was just a pain to have to switch them out at the end of the day. I have way too much to do, worrying about batteries is the last thing on my mind. Just set it on the charging dock and leave it. when the green light is solid its fully charged, even my 2 year old knows that we need to put the leapster on the charger when his sister is done playing.
When we get our son his own leapster we will be buying another recharging system for it.

| We've had this charging system now for three years, use it every 3-4 days or so, and it's still going strong. It is a must for the L-max system but well worth the money. Found it on sale at the local huge toystore, which particularly offers incentives at Christmas and Easter. This is well worth the money added to an already valuable investment in the L-max. Highly recommend! |

Bought the re-charging system at the same time that I bought my son the Leapster L-Max. Some sort of recharging system, either rechargable batteries or this docking station is a MUST if your child is going to use the Leapster very often because it sucks up battery juice VERY quickly.
I had considered buying rechargeable batteries of my own, but like how the docking station doesn't require any other "small" parts such as batteries which can be easily lost or misplaced. A bit pricey, but in my opinion worth the cost in the long run. I liked the fact that it was a larger-sized docking station, no small parts/batteries to lose, but was worried that it might be a little *too* large to store in the leapster storage backpack that I also purchased, but it all fit in the backpack nicely. A definite must-have for a child that uses their L-Max quite a bit- saves tons of money on regular batteries that need replaced constantly. Leapster L-Max didn't come with any sort of A/C Adapter to plug directly into the wall (which we also thought was somewhat of a rip-off) but this docking station's A/C adapter can be plugged directly into your Leapster L-Max for that purpose. |

My son's family are very low income and I purchased the grandkids each a Leapster with rechargers. They would not have been able to afford to keep buying batteries for a toy like that. The recharger is the only way to go.

"Can't buy replacement battery packs!!" | 2008-01-04 |

| Based on Amazon reviews, I went ahead and bought the Leapster Recharging System for my two kids' Leapsters. I called Leapfrog Customer Service to ask about purchasing an extra battery recharging pack (so we'd have one for each Leapster.) They told me they DO NOT sell extra packs (even though they say they are available for purchase in the guidebook.) When I tried to dispute this, I was told the best they could do was sell me another whole recharging system for $24.99. This is also surprising, as on their website the price listed for another recharging system is listed as $34.99! Regardless, the system itself is very handy and will no doubt save money on batteries. Keep in mind that the instructions state that, "after approximately 300 charges, you may notice a decrease in the power supplied by the battery pack." |
