| I bought this cabe expecting a respectable difference but only a slight difference at most. I dont have a surround system so i was just planning to use the tv sound but these guys decided not to include an adapter for the jacks since my tv has one 1/8 in mini jack and these are two jacks that are 1/4in so u have to spend 15 more dollars to hear. Makes a difference but definately not worth 50 $. But since i am geting a bigger tv later maybe there will be a bigger difference. And also i had to change my resolution set up and quality setting on my xbox 360 since at first it looked worse but with the adjustment it looked a little better. |

| I bought both the Microsoft Xbox 360 VGA cables along with these Monster Cables. The Monster Cable brand was noticeably better then the Microsoft ones when playing Mass Effect on my monitor in 1080p. |

I've had a 360 HD-DVD player for about a year now, along with the MS VGA cable. Recently bought a 52" LCD on Amazon, plugged my Xbox into the VGA port, and was very disappointed to see a pronounced right hand ghost on all images. With a number of options I decided to buy the Monster Brand cable to see if it cleared up the problem. When it arrived I very carefully opened the typical plastic packaging. If this didn't clean up the image it was going back.
Hooked it up (noting an odd mini phone audio jack where the Toslink cable should attach) and turned it on to find a....nearly flawless picture!
Cable quality can sometimes make the difference and in my case this one made all the difference in the world.
The audio connector thing is very annoying. It forced me the buy the 10' Monster Gamelink Fiber Optic cable (which comes with the adapter for the mini jack) to have digital surround sound. I bought mine locally for $20, so I would have been ahead just buying the combo deal here on Amazon. So the real cost of the cable is $65 bucks. If I were smart like you who are reading this and had researched more I would have known this.
I don't like being forced to buy a very specific extra item to enable a standard feature. It's kind of like, "Now, would you like to buy headlights to go with that car?" Bottom line for me is the cable greatly improved my picture, and after all it is on my HD-DVD drive, so it was worth it for me for the PQ. |

The reason why I purchased this was not for my gaming, but b/c I overheard that the VGA adapter would upconvert standard DVDs when playing them in my HD-DVD add-on drive for the Xbox360. And considering the large amount of DVDs that I do have, I don't feel like buying all new HD-DVD replacements, but I'm a quality buff and it just wasn't doing it for me.
The gaming, I feel, is as sharp as ever and there's no color loss or sound problems. When watching an HD-DVD in the HD-DVD drive, the picture is fantastic and as clear as ever. I then tried playing a standard DVD in the drive, and it was completely what I expected. The quality was that of a 420p or even 720p!! I'm so glad I don't need to upconvert to all new DVDs!
With that being said, I must admit that when playing a standard DVD only, the color does get a bit 'washed out', but again, I've only experienced this when playing regular DVDs. The sound too can get a bit fuzzy, but only in certain spots.
For a cheap way to make your dvds and gaming look their best, and because there isn't HDMI on the Xbox, this is the best alternative. I personally really am enjoying it and there are many more pros than cons. The simple fact that I don't need to go buy HD replacements for all of my movies is awesome! It also helps b/c I can still buy those films that are Blu-Ray exclusive on a regular format DVD and still enjoy it in HD! |

| Gaming on a VGA monitor with a 360 is a mixed bag. Sure everything's now much clearer and defined, but for some reason there's an overall "washed out" look. Sure you can adjust the settings on your monitor but there's still a loss of color vibrance, even SDTV's perform better in this regard. It doesn't help that Microsoft won't acknowledge this problem. So I was looking for a solution to this thinking maybe I need a different brand of cables. One poster on a message board couldn't stop singing praises for this, claiming it fixes all the aformentioned problems, in fact looking back he was probably a corporate plant. So I took the plunge and ordered it. And to my dismay it still had the same washed out look, there was no improvement in picture quality at all. So if you're looking for a VGA solution for the XBox 360 just stick with the original Microsoft product, it's the same quality and you save more money anyway. I hope this review helps you out, I certainly wish I had read something like this. |

| When I got my xbox 360, I decided to hookup with the VGA cable on my HDTV. I purchased a Microsoft VGA cable at first and was very happy with it, but with the reputation and my past experiences with using Monster cables I decided to get a VGA Monster cable. The VGA Monster cable produces a crisp and sharp picture and the sound is nothing short of amazing. The only complaint I have for this cable is that you can not use a regular digital optical cable. I bought the cable not knowing that you must have a digital optical cable with a Toslink adapter. With a price tag of $59.99 for the VGA Monster cable, I had to spend another $29.99 for the Monster GameLink 360 Fiber Optic Cable. If you're looking for something cheap that will deliver quality picture and quality sound, then you should definately purchase a Microsoft brand VGA cable for only $39.99 that doesn't require a Toslink adapter. If you are willing to spend $100 for all of the Monster equipment, then Monster is the way to go. But if you are on a budget, the Microsoft VGA cable will work work perfect. |
