I spent a long time debating whether or not to spoil myself and buy this monitor (I have a red motif for my computer equipment so this model had caught my eye a long time ago), but finally took the plunge a few days ago.
What can I say, this monitor is absolutely stunning and the pictures simply don't do it justice. The quality is everything you'd expect and more. The stand is solid and has good weight to it, the monitor has an absolutely beautiful finish to it and the whole look of the unit is just breathtaking.
If you're in the market for a 20", I don't see how you can pass this one up. It is one of the best 20" monitors out there and it's definitely a show stopper on anyone's desk. If you're like me and have a thing for red, you simply have to get this monitor.
This thing is worth it at twice the price, so get one while you can. You can't get your hands on a nicer monitor for the money and you can't get better picture quality for the money either. Hands down an incredible monitor and absolutely worth every penny.

I bought this monitor from computer direct a couple months ago, and I have been very satisfied with it so far. Some specifics from my purchase experience were:
1. The clarity and contrast are exactly what I was looking for in a monitor, and spec for spec, it is a bargain compared to other brands.
2. The computer direct processing and shipping was outrageously fast. I ordered it on a Monday afternoon (around 2 PM) and with no extra shipping costs, the monitor was at my door in Chicago by the time I got home from work Tuesday.
3. The stand is by far the most inferior aspect of this monitor. It will only move the monitor side to side (no up/down or tilt feature). However, the view angle on this thing is so big that you will see very clearly on any desk/viewing situation you normally run across.
4. Just in general, make sure your graphics card can handle the native screen resolution on this monitor. Many computers from 2003 or before may not be able to.
5. I have seen no dead pixels or color bleeding that I've heard about with other ACER models

"Brilliant monitor in every way" | 2007-06-27 |

I've looked everywhere for a 1080p monitor with a glossy screen and this was the closest thing I have been able to find (1680x1050, which is close enough).
I'm pleasantly surprised to find that there is no noticable glare on the glossy screen: the anti-reflective surface works exactly as advertised, whether exposed to sunlight or artificial light. I'm afraid those who laud the benefits of anti-glare (matte) screens have never seen a good anti-reflective screen. The colors are bright and the contrast is superb; the monitor doubles well as a TV or video display, unlike typical (matte) LCD monitors which appear dull and washed out in comparison. The "glass" effects in Vista and Ubuntu Beryl look particularly realistic on this monitor.
My only minor complaint would be that like most Acer monitors, switching between inputs (e.g. DVI vs. VGA) is a bit slow and awkward. Fortunately I've recently converted my three attached PCs (Vista, Ubuntu and OSX) to DVI on a KVM switch. Also note that the bottom of the stand is quite sharp and will scratch a wood surface if it is moved without lifting it.
I only hope Acer eventually sees fit to release a glossy-surfaced monitor at a true 1080p resolution. Unfortunately they say that they currently have no plans to do so. |

| The acer ferrari 20-inch LCD is a masterpiece. The external looks justify the badge - sleek black surround and a glossy rich red stand. controls are discreetly tucked away to the side but easily accessible, and ports on the back are hidden but easy to find. performance is great - blacks are rich and dark, colours well saturated, and speed eminently up to scratch. I have yet to try playing DVDs but gaming (half-life 2, call of duty) is superb. Well and truly a bargain. |

I had been thinking a lot about changing my CRT montior to LCD monitor. I was waiting for lower pricess, faster respons time & wide screen monitor. I was keeping my eye on Samsung, Benq & Acer. Last week, I visited JAREER Bookstoor in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) I found this LCD. It really impressed me with the disign, the specs & the price. So, I could not wait anylonger & I got it. I will provide my comments about the disadvantages only because the advantages you may get it from the product specs. My comments are as follow: 1- Doesn't have direct Elictrical connectivity (you need Adapter which is comming with the package) 2- It is really very difficult to connect the the power Cable & the regular (VGA) PC connection. 3- Not perfect quality of picture if you use the VGA Connection while the DVI Connection is perfect. 4- No flixpility to turn the monitor right or left because it is fixed. 5- hight cannot be adjusted.
Some of you may ask how did I gave 4/5 while having the mentioned disadvantages. Then I would say that this LCD monitor have many feature in one piece. It has TV tuner, Composite inputs, DVI Input, SCART Input, Nice Speekers. In addition, it comes with a remote control. The screen quality is very high & the side view is very sharp & clear. In conclusion this master piece has every thing you need. One last note, I purchased this monitor with a higher price than what you can get in the states. It costs me about 640$ so you should be gratefull that the pricess in the states much lower.

I have been contemplating whether to buy a decked-out 19-20" LCD or the Samsung LCD TVs that the XBOX booths are using for the last 2-3 months.
Came across this Ferrari monitor, and since I have been looking at the Samsung 23 and 26 inch TVs, my price sensitivity has been inflated and felt dropping ~$550-600 for a 20inch LCD was acceptable.
Given that I wanted a dual functioning LCD and TV, the Ferrari really appealed to me. I was about to order it, but I'm glad I poked around on A9 for more reviews.
- This monitor, according to many review sites, (and many from other continents), HAS a TV tuner built in. This is great since I would've been able to plug in my DVD player, etc, and living in a 400 sq ft apt, it's ideal for me.
- But the REALITY = North America models DOES NOT have the TV inputs built in. Why the reason Acer removed them, I do not know. It's a shame, because I was this close to buying it. Looks very attractive, regardless, but without the TV functionality, $570-$600 is too much to drop just for a nice chassis, paint job, and the Ferrari emblem.
I'm going for the Samsung instead sometime soon.
Acer America - you should do more market R&D first before deciding to pull the TV tuner/input feature. |
