I had a HP scanner, which, as a number of reviewers have said, started getting paper jams about three months after I bought it. It is now not working at all. I bought the Fujitsu, and it is infinitely faster. It hasn't jammed in the past month, but with the clamshell design, it will be easy to clear if it does. Get the Fujitsu if you have any choice in the matter. The time and aggravation saved will be worth a lot more than the extra money you pay.

| We ordered this to replace the scanner we had in our office as it finally died. We scan sometimes over 100 items per day on this scanner. It is easy to use. The set up was easy. It takes up little space. It is recommended by our medical software company as working well with their program. |

| This scanner is excellent - it is compact in size which is very helpful - it is very fast. It actually is much faster than needed for a home office and a buyer could save some expense by buying a similiar but slower model. I have had repeated problems with the driver. Have had to uninstall and reinstall the driver three times in one month. Tech Support as been very helpful and willing to work thru the problem but no definite solution. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend this scanner for an office application. |

"Fujitsu 5120C scanner" | 2008-04-14 |

I had purchased 3 HP scanners at different times, the lastest was a 5500, all of which were insufferably incompentent and a complete waste of time and money. Never again will I buy an HP product unless it's a laser jet printer, which is a fabluous product.
I've tried and returned 3 Brother all-in-ones, none of which worked well as scanners, except the doc feeder did work well sometimes as paper shredder. I couldn't figure out how to remove the jammed original from the doc feeder except by pulling it through, which, on perforated originals, would destroy the document. Phooey on Brother. Another complete waste of time.
With that background, now comes Fujitsu. I paid full legal retail, no fooling around with E-Bay on this one, and got the product the next business day for $20 more shipping.
The scanner is a work of art, a complee delight and a reliable workhorse. It always works, it's small, quiet and FAST. The standard software is a dream. The doc feeder opens like a clam shell, so NO pulling the paper through if it jams. You just press the releast button and the thing opens up and the original drops out of the bottom. It scans both sides of the doc at the same pass, at about the same speed as single sided scanning, so no jerking around with running the original back and forth through the doc feeder, where it introduces more opportunity for a screw ups, tearing and jamming. In case you have experienced it, it's horrifying to watch your original being slowly crumpled and torn while the doc feeder groans, then stops after it has destroyed your document. It's a sickening feeling.
Later, I bought a Canon duplex copier, Image Class model 6530, which sounded like a thrashing machine. It was both slow and stupid, on top of being too loud. It's duplex copying ran the copy through back and forth four times before it produced a single page of copy. It's doc feeder for duplexing was back and forth with the original, and it, too, jammed and the doc feeder wouldn't open up so you could gently remove the original. It also acted as a shredder. It went back.
The only thing about this Fujitsu model is that it doesn't have a flat bed for scanning photos and books, etc. That version wouldn't fit my pocket book or my desk top. My brother has a 5110C and says he just uses his copier for these jobs requiring a flatbed and then scans in the copy. I'll be buying a very nice Canon flatbed for about $80 which should work well for color flatbed and book scanning, which I need from time to time. The combination should be a killer.
In summary, the 5120C is a fabulous product which is carefully designed to do it's job flawlessly, taking everything into consideration, including noise, desk space, speed, reliability, ease of use, and care-free usability. With all those benefits, don't complain about the price. If you value your time, you respect yourself, you'll pay the price and get the one that works properly, so you can get on to the work at hand, rather than fighting your tools.
Hope this helps... |

| It is an excellent scanner for it is size and shape. I did not need any training to use it. However I thought it would have been more helpful if you can add a video demonstration to explore more functions efficiently. |

| I use this product in my office, scanning about 2000 pages/day. It works great, fast and reliable. I bought it to substitute another scanner that was 4 times the price of this one. I have to say that this model still does the same job as the more expensive one and at a comparable speed (I only use black/white scanning) with the only backdrawn being it does not have a flatbed. So, if flatbed is not your necessity, I highly reccomend the Fujitsu FI-5120C scanner. I plan on purchasing two more of the same kind, that is how much I like it! |

| It's too expensive for home use but if you have a business or even a home office where you do a lot of scanning - say over 50 pages per day, this unit is worth every penny. It is very fast, never jams, scans plastic cards, paper, whatever. We have 8 units of this family of scanners in our office for over 3 years and scan about 1000 pages daily. We have only had to get one unit replaced during this time (with the one I am reviewing). The rest are working as good as new. It may look expensive but comes with Acrobat 8 standard and when you consider the cost of downtime and slow scanning, it will pay for itself many times over. |
