"Blackburn Mars 3.0 Flasher Rear Bicycle Light" | 2009-11-15 |

| I frequently ride my bike when it is near dusk or just getting dark. The Blackburn Mars 3.0 has helped tremendously by assisting to warn drivers (I usually am on heavily traveled roads/highways) that there is a bicyclist ahead. The led lights are very bright and visible from quite a distance away. I also no longer fear riding my bike at night. Although I try to avoid being out when it is dark, if I have to be out there, I at least feel safer. I highly recommend this product to anyone who enjoys riding their bike and who lives in a highly populated area. |

Good, bright, sturdy, and simple to use. Nice side lights, as well as main lights.
Had this taillight for two years, when the bracket broke. Emailed Blackburn, and they sent me a new seatpost bracket for free. Can't beat that! |

I bought this light because it is one of the very few LED taillights listed on Steven Scharf's taillights page as good enough not to be considered a toy, and it's the least expensive of those. It is definitely very bright, and well protected against the environment with its rubber gasket and 3-screw closure.
If you want to mount it on a belt, or a fabric loop on a rack trunk, no problem, the belt clip is built in. If you want to mount it on a seatpost or seatstay, also no problem, there's a very nice post mount with a secure, positive adjustment for vertical angle. Weirdly, it attaches by the belt clip, so that even the post/stay mount depends on the durability of the belt clip (which other reviewers have not found very dependable).
Weirdest of all, if you have a rear rack with a standard drilled taillight/reflector mount at the back, you're out of luck: the one thing that doesn't come with this taillight is a way of attaching to a standard taillight mount. It also doesn't include any passive reflector surface (as the 4DToplight does, for example) so it needs to be combined with a standard reflector.
Well, the belt clip seems to be attached by 3 screws (one from the inside) and I can probably fabricate something to replace it and make a nice permanent mount for it and a couple of reflectors from the junk box. But with the extra effort I really won't have saved anything compared to spending the extra money on one of the other choices in the first place. |

"Bright Light w/ great customer service from Blackburn" | 2009-07-26 |

| The only reason why i gave it 4 stars is because yes, the screws to change the battery are kind of a hassle. Luckily, the light lasts fairly long - regular riding (for me, anyways) is about 3-5 miles/week as the sun goes down with this light on flashing mode - and so far I've had the light for 7 months w/o having to change the battery. I'd have to say however, that one day it just froze up on me. Despite taking the battery out/replacing it it wouldn't turn on. I emailed the folks at blackburn who got back to me within 2 days and are in the process of mailing me a new light! I'd definitely recommend this product because it does what I need it to do, is super bright, and is backed by great customer service. (BTW I have 2 and my first one has never given me any problems) |

| Very bright light, visible from the back as well as the sides. Long battery life, I've been using it regularly for over 6 months without replacing the batteries. I have it mounted to my seat post and have not any any problems keeping it attached, even over bumps and potholes. I haven't used the clip to attach to a bag or belt, so I can't speak of it's effectiveness. It's a great light for the money! |

I believe one of the other reviewers said that the only way that he wouldn't get seen with this blinky is if he forgot to turn it on. I would agree. This little guy is pretty bright. I bought this as part of the blackburn headlight/taillight pair. I's been very reliable on a second bike that I use. It even has this robocop look to it that is kinda cool. I'm all about spending a few extra bucks to be well lit at night-if the products are bright and reliable, and this one meets my criteria.
I also use Down Low Glow Lighting Kit - Two Tubes-Envy(green) and Planet Bike headlights Planet Bike Beamer 3 LED Bicycle Light with Quick Cam Bracket Mount for safer night riding. |
