"Questionable Durability" | 2009-10-09 |

| We purchased two to carry our kayaks over some mild terrain (sand). Over the course of one month, the tires would no longer hold air. The short stems made it extremely difficult to inflate these tires using a floor pump. We contacted the manufacturer only to be told that tires are wear items and would not be replaced under warranty. Other than this, this product would have been perfect for our needs. |

"Works well, but hard to set up" | 2009-09-17 |

You are better off just ignoring the instructions, I found them poorly written and even misleading. It's really hard to fill the tires with air because of how the valve is placed, I spoke to another owner who had the same issue. Also, a good rule of thumb is to position the wheels roughly under the Kayak's seat.
Once you get all that figured out, it works great! I pull it a few city blocks to a river with no problem. It takes less than five minutes to get the kayak on or off the wheels and the cart can be stowed in my deck rigging or partially disassembled and stored below deck. The big tires mean it handles all types of terrain easily. |

"canoe carrier" | 2009-09-13 |

light weight and does the job
little hard to get the boat on it by your self
but if you got a little way to get to the water it beats carring the boat
would be nicer if you did not have to strap down the boat to it
ended up taking the stap and cutting down to fit my boat and scewing the stap tight to carrier
I have a 16' canoe may be a lot different with smaller boats |

| It does what it's supposed to do and more. I carried my 14" extra wide conoe with a 12" kayak in it in one trip full of camping supplys about 400 yards with no problems. As long as you take the time to strap it on, it works good. |

"A good platform to build upon. Handyman special!" | 2009-08-15 |

The box arrived promptly, but was broken wide open. Luckily, no parts were lost. The instructions are worthless, do not read them, they only serve to add confusion. Many have wondered about the heavy steel cable bolted onto the unit. This cable has no discernable function, so I removed it. (Note that the cable is not even pictured on the box or in the (worthless) instructions. I called Pacific Outdoors about the cable and the lady did her best to deliver a lame explaination about how "if the unit should collapse the cable is a safety feature."
The carrier is made of nice heavy guage aluminium tubing, and nice soft tires. I would say the materials are top notch, the unit is very light, the design is a little weak, but fixable (see below).
I have a 75lb, 14' Rouge River canoe, it is 41" wide and has a 1.5" keel. The canoe was unstable with the keel resting on the carrier, so I replaced the small black foam roller pads with larger diameter pads (pool noodles) and bent the crossing supports (using a hydraulic press, the aluminum is way to heavy bend by hand) to creat a v-channel down the center of the carrier. Bending the cross pieces has the added advantage of widening the track by about 3". The tie down straps are of good quality, but too short for my wide canoe. I had to replace them with slightly longer straps.
Once modified, the carrier is wonderful! Really easy to load, folds up pretty small, and the wheels are easily removed for stowage. The price is excellent. If you have no problem with making a few modifiications to fit your particular canoe, you cannot go wrong with this carrier. (assuming all the parts arrive in the broken, cheap shipping box) But if you expect it to work with every canoe right out of the box, you may be dissapointed. |
