"Great CD walkman" | 2007-06-05 |

| I bought this CD player about 4 years ago or more. Got to college, gave it to my girlfriend who dumped me after one semester. Really regret it. I bought the newer version and I hate it. I'm buying the older version again. I had the one with the radio built in though, works excellent. I cannot make this CD player skip at all, I've tried. Very heavy duty, relatively water proof. Not concerned about jogging in the rain with it. It has a joystick where I would assume it is more vulnerable but no problems with mine. I'm a 21 year old college student who's buying it again. Even if you don't use the cd player it is a pretty cheap radio with pretty good reception that is comfortable to run or walk around with. |

"The Best CD walkman I've Ever Owned" | 2007-02-27 |

I've owned several CD walkmen, including a Panasonic just like this one. This one is better because it's easier to program, and the controls are so easy to operate while walking. I also love the resume function where when you stop the CD and you start it again it picks up where you left off. The battery life is also great. Even after a week it was down only one bar. The skip protection is great too. Just like my Panasonic it's very hard to get it to skip. All in all a great product. Great Job Sony! |

| I bought this product because it was durable (My cat knocked my last portable CD player off the table, to it's doom). Do not buy this, if like me, your main form of CD's are CD-R's. This player does NOT play CD-R's. My player was bought used, so it didnt come with headphones, but the sound is great in the player. Overall, hmm.. 3 stars. |

"Nice sound and rugged enough for the clumsiest" | 2005-11-12 |

I recieved this player as a gift a little more than a year ago and couldn't be happier. The sound quality is nice and clear, there's plenty of bass boost for my taste, and the design is quite good.
The headphones that came with it were pretty decent. Being a cheapskate, I use the headphones that come with a player until they break, and this took nearly a year. Their design, however, leaves a bit to be desired. It is hard to keep them on one's head, and their width is not appropriate for those with smaller heads (like mine). They also warp rather easily.
This player's skip protection is amazing. It has been dropped on many occasions without skipping at all. I have actually never been able to get it to skip. |

"Safe from water, 3 feet falls, but not sand" | 2004-09-06 |

| A good tip is not to bring this to the beach or any place with sand. The sand did not completely break the cd player, but makes a static sound. It is good if you take care of it, not like I did, and it has a lot of extra buttons, PGM for example puts the songs in the order you want, it is quite helpful at times. The double bass is not too significant. The hand holder is very useful, and their design helps to make it easy to move around. Very good cd player |

"By far the best CD player ever purchased" | 2004-07-06 |

| I am notoriously clumsy and am known to break electronics extremely quickly. Before purchasing this CD player I had gone through five CD players within the space of a year (of various brands...i think i had two panasonics, one classic, one other kind of sony, and one aiwa). I decided to splurge a little for this discman and was not disappointed. I have had this for almost two years now, drop it almost daily (often from considerable height onto tile floors or concrete), often store it at the bottom of my heavily loaded backpack and it is still in perfect working order. I think that the sound functions are starting to go, as i now have to purchase new headphones every two weeks, but I think I will buy the exact same discman again to replace it, because it is by far the best CD player I have ever had. |

"This Cd Player ROCKS" | 2004-05-19 |

| I swear to god this cd player never skips. I bought a very cheap cd player from someone and all it did was skip, you could throw this cd player against the wall and it would not skip, and better yet the batteries last a super long time with my old cd player I had to change batteries ever two days. |

"Mine was a lemon" | 2004-04-29 |

| I wish I could give this player a great rating but, in fact, I have very little I can go on for the rating except that mine was defective straight out of the package. Thus, I can't go on about sound quality or other features. It felt sturdy. The controls seemed easy to operate. It just didn't play. The CD would cycle but that was the extent of its performance. I had no trouble getting through to Sony on the phone (always a plus)and after a brief discussion they agreed that it was a malfunctioning unit. I have several Sony items and this is the first time I've gotten a lemon. Based on prior experience, I won't hesitate to buy Sony again but this time I am going to select a different Walkman CD player (the next "grade" up.) |

"Another positive review" | 2004-03-08 |

| I agree with the positive reviews below. I'd just like to mention a few things. Performance. I use the unit while jogging. I've noticed a couple of skips in the music when I get to running fast downhill. Perhaps the extra movement and/or impact is more than the skip-control can handle. No big deal. I recommend setting the skip control to G-2(?), which supposedly reduces sound quality. If it does I haven't detected it. Finally, I selected my settings then hit the Hold button to lock the settings into place and prevent an accidental change. Headphones. I don't mess with the volume control on the unit. In fact, I can't while I'm out jogging. (See below.) I use a good set of headphones with volume control on the chords so it's easy to reach. Besides, I don't like the little "bud" phones that come with the unit. Carrying the unit. I jog with two dogs so hand-holding the unit is not an option. I used to carry my cassette Walkman in my pocket but that resulted in too many drops with ensuing shortened useful lives. After I killed the last Walkman I figured there had to be a better way. My solution was to purchase a CD Walkman Carrying Case with a belt for the waist. Now the unit is secure, and if I do drop it (which has not happened), there's an extra layer of padding. The problem with the case is that access to all the controls except the start/stop button is lost. Hence the need to have the volume control on the headphones. |
